I can't stand Gary Neville, but I thought he spoke a great deal of sense last night, in fact, I was a bit surprised at how much sense he did speak.

    Edit: Seems I wasn't alone.......

    Joey7Barton Joseph Barton
Thought @GNev2 was very insightful before the game. Talks a lot of sense, albeit in a manc accent and with a dodgy goatee. Haha #refreshing

Im just confused now - how did Barcelona get brought into this because I think Wayne Rooney is overated and never produces the goods on the big stage?

And "you're an idiot then". Great debating skills, cheers.

When did Rooney go two years without scoring in the Champions League?

Sorry, I was wrong, It was two and a half years.

And that's kind of my point. If other strikers suffered similar runs for club and country they'd be persecuted but for some unknown, illogical reason it just doesnt get a mention when it is Rooney.

I remember it clearly at the time. I didnt make my accusation off the back of that article.

Was it maybe 2 and a half years without an away CL goal?

He didn't score an away goal in the 2004/5 and 2005/6 seasons, when he was 18 and 19 respectively and they were knocked out fairly early in the 2005/6 season, talentless twat. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Arf. If you'd prefer I could instead talk about his 10 month period without a single goal from open play for club or country? Imagine if Aron McClean did that?

I do remember his long run without a goal from open play, but I'm afraid you'll never convince me that Wayne Rooney is anything but a very talented football. I don't think he's overrated at all, he's pretty good at everything and he works hard, there isn't a team in the world that wouldn't like Rooney on their books. Including my fantasy team, which he always appears on, though after last night, I might have to swap him for Aguero. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

When you say any team do you mean club or country? Cos I 100% dont think he'd make Argentina or Brazil's squads.

I meant club, but I think he'd make the squads for Argentina and Brazil, even if he didn't make the starting XI. I'd quite like to see a Naymar/Rooney partnership for Brazil. <ok>

Wonder what Berbatov thinks. Golden boot winner, always on the bench and now the kids are getting picked ahead of him.
