It's been clear for about a week or so that we aren't willing to pay what Roma want. Just move on and go straight for our 2nd and 3rd targets, it would save a lot of time
 
I have to admit this VVD scenario has lost what little faith I had in this transfer window. The other two players Kieta and Salah won't happen either and we will just sign underwhelming players. I'm usually quite optimistic, but this time around I have a bad feeling. I know he is only a centre back and I know a few on here didn't see him as worth the money, I am the complete opposite, I was excited by him as much as when we signed Suarez and to see it just turn to dust has massively disappointed me.

I too had optimism going into this window, there was me think ' 2nd time in the CL with the American owners, they'll have learnt from last time. Klopp as manager so we can get the players we actually want and will improve the team to actually be in a position to win something'
The window hasn't even opened and we've already ****ed it. First choice CB (with potential to be one of the best in the world) out the ****ing window cause of massive ineptitude, even if the price was way too high. We're being ****ed over potential transfer fees and still haven't identified a ****ing LB to buy.
On current form we'll end up with some Citeh freebies and some **** lads from relegated clubs.

Only bright side is Solanke looks like he might be a winner.

First bolded bit - I don't think it was too high I think that's just the market and I think he's worth it.
Second bolded bit - It would be nice to get a LB but I think the spine needs work first, hence why I'm gutted about VVD

But you feel the same as me. Although I don't blame the owners themselves, I blame their underlings for these balls ups!

Think its abit of both. FSG are alittle too hands off at times. They pick the wrong people to run the club and are still trying to use Moneyball ideas in proper Football. Saying that we shouldn't be over paying for crap like Salah, wide pacey forwards are easier to find than CB's.

If its is Klopps fault on VVD, texting etc, then somebody should have reigned him in. Also to 'drop all interest' in VVD was a stupid thing to put in a statement. Apologies yes, but if he's the player we want, then should have made an offical bid and let the player decide (ie hand in a transfer request)

Yeah spot on there mate! I think the problem we have now is what other top class centre backs are out there which would come here?

Asensio is a very very good player. However I don't see Madrid letting Morata and Asensio going in the same window.
 
£40m for a guy that never plays for Madrid bar the odd sub appearance.... pass

I was more optimistic than usual until I SAW the Van Dickface link when I got the all too familiar "here we go again" feeling.

Generally have a 'what we be will be' attitude to transfer windows now days and, despite being pleased about the Van Dickface deal possible falling through, that's what I've reverted to.
