Mr Wenger is urging respect from the Arsenal fans..... Does he realise respect is also a 2-way thing? How can he ask for respect when the fans are being year on year. At the end of last season he said he was going to be busy in transfer market, well we seem to have taken 4-steps backwards and 1 forward.

Last week he bodly predicted no one was leaving this club in the current transfer window..... why should we believe any of his garbage? We have enough quality blah blah....

To be fair I largely stopped listening to what Wenger says about a year ago, that was when he started using press conferences primarily as a tool to help defend his players rather than giving us his actual opinion.

Mr Wenger has completely lost the plot.

He is like 'Comical Ali' with his assertions there is no crisis at Arsenal, blaming the fans is a last resort of a desperate man. Losing our club captain who was under contract is Wengers fault and if he sells Nasri and fails to replace with real quality he will be savaged by the fans.

It will be Monaco revisited for him.

Someone should really call him aside and and tell him to SHUT-UP. He says the right things when the transfer window is shut, soon as the transfer window is open, he comes up with drivel like we have enough quality internally, we do not need to replace Fabregas! It is really getting tiresome listening to him!

I'm pretty sure that our most sucessful manager of all time has earnt his respect, unlike many of the younger Arsenal fans of today who are calling for his head.

    @The MagicMan
No one is calling for Wenger's head, well certainly NOT me..... Can we not have a debate about the direction of our great club without people saying he is being driven out. Wenger has been good for our club, and for that, we are eternally grateful, but he is just too stubborn to see what the fans and everyone else can see. Says it all when old Muareen (Gary Neville) is sticking up for him, he knows we are no threat to his beloved United..... suits him really!

Merely stating that we should respect the man, even if we are not particularly happy at the moment.

I agree with magic man, you were being a bit disrespectful.

  10. I have to agree with dissenters that Arsene does himself no favour when in the light of Fabregas leaving he goes on to say that we have enough quality. Then this is further exacerbated by rumours that he is looking to the budget market for replacements and all the while, time is running short. I think Arsene says some things perhaps to throw everyone off his scent but that the replacements are a long time coming is a cause for concern. Arsene has his own legacy and reputation to protect. I would like to think he realises this.

Like Magic Man I have a longer memory than some of the younger fans, but I can also understand their frustration, the performance at Newcastle was yet again lacklustre, lots of possession but no penetration, it is last season all over again, look back to the Emirates Cup against New York Red Bulls, first of all what is Thierry Henry doing there, a team who could comfortable compete in League One, and we didnt have shot on goal to test the keeper, I know it was a "warm up" but it could also have been an opportunity for much needed shooting practice, it was a ghastly reminder of the Carling and FA Cup games against Ipswich, Orient and Huddersfield where the second string were on parade and struggled against journeyman footballers.
Back to Newcastle, did we test the Toon keeper no. one serious shot in ninety minutes, luckily Newcastle also have problems I can see them struggling to keep out the bottom three on this display, but that is their problem.
I admire AW for his aim of bringing players though the system, or buying young players to nurture, but the bottom line is they have be be good enough to take advantage of the help they will receive, and so far that hasnt proved to be the case, with the exception of Wilshere and Gibbs not one of the "team of the future" from the Carling Cup victories a few seasons back have come through to the first team squad, but worse than that the players bought in have not come up to the standard demanded, Vela for instance went to WBA on loan and was a bench player, Squillaci has hardly shone, Arshavin has not lived up to what appeared to be enormous potential, and Walcott still has to show what we paid all that money for, Denilson has gone back to Brazil and I cant hear many tears being shed, nor an outcry for Bendtner not to be sold, Chamack has still to prove himself, we have yet to see what Oxlade -Chamberlain has to offer, and Gervinho has made a good start with a foolish red card. I can understand why the fans are frustrated, it isnt cheap to go and be disapointed week after week, I think the worst thing of all is I wonder how many fans old or young really feel confident before each game that we are going to win? Five years ago we did.

Ofcourse Wenger will say we have enough quality at our club, what do you want him to say? Our players aren't good enough?

Also he's probably trying to keep the price of a replacement down by not looking too desperate.

To be fair to Wenger, what is he supposed to say? "Without Fabregas Arsenal are doomed? wer must replace him!" what kind of message is that for the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey? not to mention the pressure it will heap on whoever does come in. though admittedly he should ho on to say that Arsenal are also looking at players to bring in to improve the squad

Who has disrespected Wenger ? Don't be so touchy. Can we not criticise ??

I am an Arsenal fan since the late 70s, born and raised in Holloway, behind the Sobell Sports Centre. I am disgusted with Wenger at the moment. I have gone from being his main supporter to someone utterly deflated with his decisions. He talks crap and refuses to admit the obvious. Shades of the late great Brian Clough here. Wenger is ruining his reputation and his legacy.

He said he would be busy in the transfer market, utter nonsense. He should be using the time and energy he is spending on "smoke and mirrors" and trying to keep Fabregas and Nasri on trying to buy some sodding players. He claims there is a lot of quality in the squad, the same squad who cannot close out games, the same squad that makes the same mistakes season after season, the same squad with no leadership, the same squad that bottle it at crunch times, the same squad that cannot take responsibility for itself.

This squad is a complete joke and Wenger is becoming a laughing stock every time he opens his mouth. He claims he wants to buy better than what we have, that shouldn't be difficult. Replace: Song, Eboue, Squilacci, Fabianski, Almunia, Clichy, Vela, Rosicky, Diaby and Denilson and buy backup for Sagna, Vermaelen Wilshere, RVP.
