I'd trust Corbyn's backbone after putting up with all the **** he has from even his own party over wobbly May changing her mind every five minutes and refusing to debate directly.
Just had a delightful argument with some colleagues this morning who were horrified that I chose not to vote. One would, by his own admission, have voted Conservative even if his local Tory candidate had been a bucket of tramp sick with a blue rosette on it (but I believe Boris was standing in another constituency). Anyway, apparently I am not entitled to any opinion on the outcome of the election because I didn't vote. I have let down all those that have fought for my freedoms over many centuries (ignoring that one such freedom is presumably the right not to vote for the assorted dungballs, arsewipes and knobheads put before me as a 'choice'). Said individual - let's call him Kevin - went on to say that he actually aggressively forces his children to vote (whether they want to or not) in order to exercise their freedoms. As with Baldrick, to Kevin irony is like goldy and silvery, only made of iron.
Just done the maths and 52% of those who voted went for parties that are not obsessed about immigration, and didn't bother to campaign on it or have any restrictive policies in their manifestos. On the assumption that 52% is, in modern British politics, an overwhelming majority mandating all other views to be totally ignored, I can now declare that freedom of movement is now no longer an issue we need to negotiate on in the Brexit discussions. Should make things easier. Trouble on the streets Goldie?
I also note that 100% of them what voted supported parties that neither campaigned for nor had in their manifesto a show trial and public flogging for Piers Morgan.
No trouble on the streets because, however much held together by string, the Tories are still in power and won't concede freedom of movement. Of course, if Labour get in before the Brexit talks are finalised... but I don't see it, because as I've said earlier, the Tories won't hand it on a plate to Corbyn again
lol these are so funny Most famous fish finger Corbyn going for a cheeky high five https://www.theguardian.com/politic...ith-one-of-worst-high-fives-of-all-time-video And the people running against may
Many of them only remain members of Parliament thanks to the Corbyn/McDonnell manifesto. A Blairite campaign would have seen Labour annihilated. Those that don't want to work with Corbyn should take Johnson's lead and also retire.
Wow, just heard May's speechlet. She's in denial, talking about governing for the next five years, no mention of anything she might have learned from this result, just more of the same vagueness about 'certainty'.
That is because she is strong and stable. My money is on her suddenly finding a magic money tree somewhere under a bush in the garden at no. 10.
She'll limp on for a few months, relying on support from the DUP. What was all that stuff about terrorist sympathisers?
I guess it depends on how you quantify 'winning' - Labour didn't get a mandate, but it was the best result since 1945 for any party in terms of the swing. Plus having blown a 21 point lead in the polls, it all adds up to a complete omnishambles for the Conservatives who now have to go cap in hand to a fringe party that are anti-abortion, anti-gay, climate deniers, anti women's rights, pro the pensions triple lock (which the Tories want abolished). They also want to; "Prioritise spending on our Health Service, create more jobs and increase incomes, protect family budgets, raise standards in education for everyone and invest in infrastructure." Which again is the antithesis of the Conservative perspective when you consider the devastating cuts to education, social care, house building and the heath service under the last administration. So, no... Labour didn't win, but we jolly well do know who lost don't we?
I was telling my wife this morning about one time in 1987 I saw Thatcher re-elected and there was a fellow standing against her called Lord Buckethead and he just had a metal bucket over his head - so she had to wait for his result first. When about a minute later they showed the same geezer standing against May last night - I almost ingested myself laughing. He looks like he's been saving up for a costume the last 30 years
