"Because he (Gao) has not been convicted of an offence, the Premier League is understood to have no existing grounds to block his bid (for southampton)." It may be the case that the takeover is going through and that has sparked this need for change.
Well didn't we vote for it though? Wouldn't have thought we would vote for it if it would stop the takeover
Ah, fair enough. I cant understand the legality of EPL owners who are virtually already owned by unscrupulous foreign owners voting to stop others doing the same...
So, we have also voted in favour of it, why would we do that if we were wanting to get one through...
Alexander Jarvis @Ajarvis8 Another Chinese owned football club in the English Premier League from tomorrow. Surely more to come. #LanderSports #SouthamptonFC From the guy that was rumored to be heading the bid from Lander, even though he looks about 12. Could be rubbish...
I am going to suggest that if Saints have voted in favour of the rules of potential ownership being amended then what is taking its time with our takeover has nothing to do the potential owner being fit and proper, but that both parties, Liebherr and Lander Holdings want to strike the right deal for the long term.
Yeah I'm happy to see what happens as we need investment. As said above, if we voted in favour of the new rules would we do so if it woud stop the takeover? fingers crossed its good news!
Kinda nervy if the bid was considered dodgy enough that the PL changed their rules to prevent someone similar taking over...
This is very unclear. Has this blocked the takeover or has it already happened and they are shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted? Can't see that that is the case seeing as we voted for it.
