**** me, if we can get £2m that would be brilliant business. If we lose Curtis, Tom and Daws we could actually line up not having the slowest team in the history of professional football.

I'd like to keep Huddlestone. One of the few players we have who can actually pass to a team mate.

True - the 7 remaining outfield players would speed things up significantly :emoticon-0105-wink:

I agree, Hudds is a good midfielder for the championship who could control games.

We always were going to lose a lot of players. I wonder who's left

If he didn't have a release clause in nobody would offer £2m. We've put that in to make the buyer think they're getting a bargain.

I take it all back, Ehab is a genius.

We've desperately needed midfield dynamism for years.

Before the red card he was comfortably our best player.

Opinions. I think he's been a problem for a few years. The whole time from about 6 months in actually.

Most clubs have a DoF in one form or another, the problem ones are those who want to be "seen".

The general idea is that they work with agents to identify players who come available, and pass these on to the manager to decide if they fit the squad. They also act as a point of contact so the manager can say I want player X, the DoF then makes contact and introduction and tries to get deals done.

The premise is that the manager /head coach can concentrate on football matters (plan strategy for next game, training, player development ect), while the DoF acts as a barrier.

If the DoF has a set brief, operates to this, and manager has final say, the system works well

My guess is that if we appoint a DoF he will be tasked with finding cheap quality players. I think the Allams have realised Ehab has no clue in what makes a good player. And given the amount of rebuilding the squad will need I think a DoF will be a good addition

Id rather keep Maguire than Davies, and rather keep Clucas than Huddlestone. However, we will lose them all. There's going to be no one left to much player turn over and we will struggle.

Also Callum Paterson has gone to Cardiff, we should of had him!

It's alright we'll still have Marshall, so no goalkeeper crisis. Luckily Cardiff have bought a gk too so won't come sniffing round him or McG.:bandit:

Well... I wonder if Ehab included Davies and Thudd in the 4 players that we'd probably lose.

Also correct me if im wrong, but didnt he say we'll keep the "core" group of players and add to them.. Davies & Huddlestone certainly count as core players in the Championship to me.

Has Davies got worse since joining us? And the market has gone up significantly in the last 4 years. I'd say you would at least expect to recoup what we paid for him given it was only £2.5m?

Losing Diame for £4.5m was still piss poor though. And especially as we had gone back up. Obviously I don't know exactly how these clauses work but I'd have thought they kick in once you are relegated but surely if you then get promoted again they are 'deactivated'? Or that is how they should work I'd have thought.
