    Stop being naive. Remember Lallana?

It is well known in and around the team that Bertrand wants to leave and has made it clear he does. If he suddenly changes his mind then fair play, but I have been told this is bang on.

Here's hoping the PL hurry up, and give the transfer ban, to LFC before they get anyone in! The clown Klopp, wouldn't know what to do!! Lol

Don't make suspicion of my judgement and character. I have been right on a couple of occasions, when others have been wrong. I just don't automatically follow the herd thought that what is bad for SFC must be true.

The meeting with Klopp has only as far as I'm aware been reported in the Mirror. Which lets be honest is not the most reliable of sources. But if Saints are looking to have Liverpool investigated as reported by Blackmore, Leitch etc. Then I would imagine something like this must be a possibility. I think it's widely known that agents will meet with clubs and other agents to see if players/clubs are interested in moves. For a player employed by another club to have a face to face meeting with an opposing clubs manager without permission is just wrong.

Where is the herd? I only see a few people saying he will go. Have you been told he is staying? Apart from his promo vids?

Let us just roll over and die then.
Every year at this time I say **** it I'm not renewing my season ticket but I do. People quite often don't say what the mean to do or they often change their minds.

The herd thought is that anyone who suggests that something adverse might be happening at SFC gets roundly supported. I tend to wait for confirmation rather than wasting my time speculating.

We can only know 3rd hand what is going on unless any of you are VVD, Bertrand, Puel or Les. :emoticon-0128-hi:

Things can change or be lost in translation. Nothing is 100% until it is on the OS. The best that can be said is that something is very likely. .....or not.

So that's a no then. Also a herd to me is a person that believes the club 100% and always follows their press.

Not going to give away the person that told me about Bertrand. But they would know 100%

I have told a few people on here who I trust who it was. But sorry I don't trust everyone on here.:emoticon-0101-sadsm

The most disgraceful piece of supposed journalism is the piece by Cascarino in the Times today where he say every body taps up players it so its OK. It made me cross in that burglary and mugging happens but we don't all do it and it is wrong and we work to have it stopped.

Football is rotten to the core and I am appalled that the Times published such nonsense. The talk of cleaning up football especially diving etc will never happen while you have clowns like Cascarino writing this crap and the Times publishing it.

    Cascarino wrote:

If Liverpool secure the signature of Virgil van Dijk they will not care one iota about being reported to the Premier League for an alleged illegal approach to the defender. There is no proof that they have attempted to poach the player but it may be that this deal matters so much to Jürgen Klopp that so-called tapping-up may not just be necessary, it may be desirable. How else can the club be sure that Van Dijk does want to move to Anfield?
There are plenty of big clubs after the Southampton defender and at Christmas it was clear that the Dutchman would be a main target for all the top teams. It must be extremely useful to Liverpool to hear from the 25-year-old’s own lips that he wants to be part of Klopp’s journey into European competition.
It is a high-risk strategy by the Merseyside club, however. They will be embarrassed if their target chooses, at the last minute, to go to a rival — but given how protracted these deals can become, Liverpool have no choice but to make it clear to the player that he is wanted.
What about poor Southampton? I think the publicity generated by their complaint will only help to push up the fee for Van Dijk. They might want him to stay on the south coast but that is not realistic, so they might as well fight to the end and get the best deal that they can and perhaps draw in other bidders.
I would be amazed if any Premier League club could claim never to have used market rumours to their advantage. Sir Alex Ferguson was famous for phoning players to let them know that he admired them. Nothing wrong with that — until, suddenly, one of them signs for Manchester United. Football tries to operate in its own world but in every other form of business people switch jobs after being told how much happier and wealthier they would be at another firm.
Liverpool need a marquee signing. If Van Dijk signs for Klopp then other players who might not be sure about whether Liverpool are the right club will see them as ambitious. Sometimes it only takes one signing to change a club completely. The capture of Alan Shearer by Blackburn Rovers had an amazing domino effect and where Van Dijk ends up could be just as significant.
Arsène Wenger ought to take note and make some aggressive moves in the market to stop the perception that Arsenal are a sinking ship. The transfer window is a tough time and anyone keen to succeed will lose no sleep over being accused of tapping-up.

<grr> :emoticon-0121-angry #Lotsofveryunladylikewords# I would suggest it is time the Premier League (and whoever else) get to grips with what is happening then and not just say 'oh well everyone does it'. Now is an ideal time to start.

I have complained formally about Cascarino's article to the Independent Press Standards Organisation.

Everyone should if they feel strongly that this article is wrong and is actively promoting tapping up.

    The link is:

    https://www.ipso.co.uk/make-a-complaint/complaints-form/

and the form only takes a few minutes to complete.

Of course you could just moan about it but do **** all.

<laugh> Bit busy right now so I'll probably take that course of action, yes.

Have you seen the front page of today's Mail? As it happens I'm a bit more annoyed about that than what Tony Cascarino has to say about tapping up football players.

I honestly think that so called 'professional' football is so far it's own a#$e that it simply has no clue about ethics or morality anymore; those that run the game are no better than the cheats and divers who look to manipulate referees into making favourable decisions for them and their team every weekend and get away unpunished. The Premier League may not be as corrupt as FIFA is; but it's about as devoid of desire to manage the sport in a fit and proper manner. If Klopp and that Scouse Scum have tapped up VVD: rest assured they will not place heavy sanctions on them because they are a 'big' club and we are the also-rans who make up numbers in the EPL.

Godders, any chance you can set these choices up as a poll?

I'd vote the latter offer of doing **** all, as largely I couldn't give a ****.

Mainly based on our own likely transfer dealings won't always be whiter than snow :emoticon-0148-yes:

    On Saintsweb:

    St Chalet
(He will be joining a London club, likely Spurs, possibly Chelsea from what I have been told.)

It would make sense, Bertrand's house is close to London. He travels down all the time.
