And we were both part of it. I'm so incredibly proud of us both. One day we may all look back on this as a watershed moment
Jeremy Wilson has spoken. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...aces-sack-southampton-have-found-replacement/ Claude deserves better than this. Sorry Les/Ralph (whoever else is involved...) but this is a shabby way to treat a decent man.
That is awful from our board and the handling of Claude Puel... CBK was correct in the way we have treated him..
As disrespectful and harsh as it is, this approach is probably best for the football club. Either we get a better manager or keep Puel. It means we will not end up sacking him and being left with someone worse. It is cruel but I can understand why the board are doing it.
Yes, But why would you make that kind of statement public knowledge?! That is bang out of order and disrespectful for Claude.
It's not exactly a good advertisement for the club's employment relations policy, either, with a view to attracting another manager.
I thought that this sort of behaviour finished after Cortese left, it's not the message most Saints fans would like to see from our club.
Manager on the way out, premier league involved in tapping up claim, owner investigated over tax, new investment potentially on the horizon. Maybe add an incoming transfer saga, would we be missing anything to top our summer of summers?
I'm genuinely shocked... If this is what's to come by our new ownership... Being ruthless and disrespectful, I'm a little Dissapointed.
The board are acting in the best interests of the club and have aspirations to do better - I have no problem with that. Nigel was wrongly sacked and look at us since then. Claude did okay this season to sell his CV to other clubs and will be paid off handsomely. I'm not sure he'll be too upset when he goes, it's football. Plus, who's to say what happened behind the scenes with members of the first team or what assurances he's now given the board over style of play etc.
They aren't even in place yet so i wouldnt think this is anything to do with the potential new owners. Be honest, would you mind so much if this approach led to us hiring Tuchel, or Schmidt if you'd prefer?
While we all take the moral high ground, if they announce Tuchel as his successor no one is going to care
And now looking at the express article Fran posted it looks like you might be right for the wrong reasons and I might be wrong for the right reasons So while its fashionable I'll admit I was wrong in advance ... and the whole shebang is moving on apace in the meantime anyway
Completely agree. As i've said before I won't be disappointed if Claude appears on the touchline again next season. I think, and still do, that deserves a second season. To be made, after a quite frankly decent first season, the last ditch option, is really poor and disappointing from the club. Whilst I would be very happy with appointment of Tuchel/Schmidt, I don't want us to treat a good man who did his best like trash. We are better than that, or so I thought.
