Brilliant result and for the first time I am seeing us as title contenders. We have the best bowler in the division which helps. Brilliant spell from Abbott prior to lunch to give us a chance. Anyway, nice break for Kyle now as we've got next round off.
Brilliant day, brilliant game. I am though utterly astounded that we got as much play as we did. It poured it down in Chilworth between 11 and 12, and was constantly on and off between about 12.30 and 2.30. Weather gods on our side. Cricket gods too?...
I think there is a bubble surrounding the Ageas Bowl. It's far from the first time where it's been pissing down nearby but not actually at the ground!
Our third D1 win of the season. Since we came 3rd in 2008, only once have we recorded more than three D1 wins. 2009, 2010 and 2011 we recorded three wins each. 2012, 2013 and 2014 we were in D2. 2015 we recorded four wins, but only thanks to a fabulous end of the season that allowed us to escape relegation. And in 2016 we recorded a pathetic two wins. Even in that 2008 season, when we recorded five wins, we were also indebted to a brilliant end of season. Half way through that season we were heading for relegation too. First time since 2005 that we find ourselves right in the title mix in the first half of the season. Hopefully we can go one better this time. No Kent to screw us over.
Australia have played 2 games, only2 points as both games abandoned due to rain. If we beat the Kiwis today, we are through.
About time the weather favoured us....my impression is that it usually punishes us*. However, rain expected in Cardiff. *This may of course be a biased view.
