If Saints really mean it....they should state that they will not sell him to Liverpool because of this behaviour. I will not be holding my breath.
I wonder if this has some seriousness rather than desperation to keep him (or look like we're fighting to keep him). By the sounds of it he's been talking closely with Liverpool & City (at the very least) so I wonder if it's just Liverpool we are going after. Particularly if he's been chatting with Klopp.
I'll save my laughter until they actually get charged and hit with a transfer ban. I imagine what will actually happen is they'll be given a small fine and will still buy VVD anyway.
This was over Alderweireld. But we didn't hold the cards. He didn't want to come and he wasn't our player. This is a bit different. We hold every card possible.
Probably a misunderstanding as we don't have a historty of this type of behaviour. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...rpool-transfer-ban-embarrassment-its-12851650
If Van Dijk has said how impressed he has been with Klopp's involvement in talks so far, sounds like it could similar Mourinho and Ashley Cole.
Much though I'd love to see a transfer ban and relegation to the Evo-Stik league with a 50 point penalty and their new stand dismantled and .... I just know this going to be a quick slap on the wrist. The PL were iffy about taking action against Pompey. Can you imagine them doing anything against Liverpool? Now if this was Port Vale tapping up a player from Wrexham, the sky would fall on them. EPL - for the few, not the many!
Don't know. Liverpool already have a transfer ban on academy players, according to the links above. A temporary ban for one window is not inconceivable. Relegation and a 10 point deduction might be asking a bit much.
I suspect all it will really mean in the end is we get an extra couple of million from them for VVD. Doesn;t stop it from being both very funny and worthwhile though.
It was mention of talks with Klopp that annoyed me. I'm not naïve...I know some contact will be made in the sense of approaching the agent to see if there is any possibility of a move happening, but personal talks is a whole different matter. Saints obviously feel this has gone too far...and undermines us as a club and as a negotiator in a possible deal.
You're probably right, but I am now firmly in the "anyone but Liverpool" camp. In fact I'd prefer him to go to pompey for an undisclosed fee of two crates of Heineken and a caravan on Hayling island.
As pointed out by someone on Saintsweb "Liverpool fans have gone into full victim mode on social media"
Also another interesting but far-fetched point is that Van Dijk hasn't asked to leave. Could this possibly be him that's reported it to Saints and stood up for them or am I clutching at the smallest of straws in dreamland here.
