Yeah and he signed for us, his club's owner just straight up refused to fax the documents like he was obliged to, you know like you did last season with De Gea
We will all be paying for it when he flops! Look, I'm not bothered by price tags usually. I was the one defending the likes of Carroll, Downing, etc because the price tag wasn't their fault. I'll be the same with Van Dickface if he joins. I just feel there are better deals to be had. If he's the (want for better wording) the missing piece of the jigsaw then he'll be worth every penny. I just don't see it.
Liverpool appear to have won the race to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk - more on that one below - and Mamadou Sakho could be included as part of the deal. Dutch defender Van Dijk is set to be the latest Southampton player to swap the south coast for Anfield but this time Saints could be set to receive a player in return, according to the Telegraph. Saints were reportedly interested in the French defender in January, but were put off by the Reds' £30million pricetag. Liverpool will have to pay a club-record £60m fee to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton, according to Kaveh Solhekol. The Sky Sports News HQ reporter has taken to Twitter to shed light on the latest developments in the transfer sage involving the Netherlands international this summer. Van Dijk has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in the summer after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s best defenders. Southampton signed Van Dijk in a £11m deal from Scottish Premier League champions Celtic in 2015 summer transfer window under Ronald Koeman.
I think he's quality, no doubts about his ability so I'd rather pay the higher price knowing what we're getting than spend half of the money and wonder how it'll work out. Matip and VVD is a superb pairing.
I'm not too fussed about paying 60m for him. Rather that than settling for a cheaper option that is much more likely to flop, which is what we often do. Hopefully we can negotiate a deal that involves Sakho going the other way
Not sure how bad the injury is. He was looking a good player at Palace wouldn't be a bad buy but you lot seem to be able to find really good players. We should stop ****ing about and buy your scouts.
The irony is that we're spending £50-60m on a player to replace another defender we bought from Soton for £20m. If the price is rumoured to be £60m (which I highly doubt it is), it will be offset with Sakho sale probably (£20-30m).
Liverpool want Napoli left back Faouzi Ghoulam and talks are expected with the agent of the Algerian. [@DiMarzio] I must say, majority of our targets are quite exciting this summer!
We are buying qualities, top four is going to be harder next season not to talk of winning the league; Manchester city, Chelsea, Manchester united Tottenham, Liverpool Arsenal Are not pretenders in 2017/2018. I think Champion is going to come from any of these clubs.
Imo lfc released this van dijk to join us stuff as a tactic. I think we dont want to bid until we get a signal from saints of the real fee... and are concerned if we bid it will be publically rejected as derisory. The issue with this is we may never bid.
Not sure what the injury is - but you would be getting a brilliant centre back. Don't think he gets the credit he deserves because he is affiliated with being part of an awful defence. He will make mistakes, he is injury prone - but the positives outweigh the negatives IMO. Often gets ridiculed for looking clumsy on the ball but one thing you will definitely notice is how good his passing is.
What we have to consider is that Klopp is rebuilding the defence. If you look at VVd in isolation it looks very expensive. But when you consider Matip cost £ 0 , he will have earned the right to spend that amount. Klavan also acts as back up cost relatively cheap. You also have to consider that we will get some funds from the sale of Sakho. All in all after two summer windows Klopp will have ended up using 50 million or so in fees to upgrade that back line.
