I completly agree that it would be backwards logic not to accept the high bid. I just hate how we just bend over when Liverpool come along.
The fact I support the club is why this is so annoying. It is quite simple to keep him for one more year and then sell - even if it was to Liverpool! His value would only go up, this deal makes sense for VVD, the buying club but not for us. Yes it is good money, but we all know that same money is available in 12 months time. Very poor decision whichever way you look at it.
It would be a shame not to. Considering it's not a World Cup or Euros year, how else will we fill the summer?
Yeah. The club has said we don't need to sell players for the last few years. Every summer we sell players. Who's surprised? In fact, really, who cares any more?
Debatable. I still think mane went cheap. But we've all had that argument before. Oh well, we march on and all that
In fairness if the price isn't agreed, then that's a little misleading. I honestly don't care if he goes there. At least it's a one stop shop to see how our ex players are getting on. If they win the title, we can claim it, West Ham/1966 style.
The way I see it is that VVD was good at Celtic but not good enough for the so called big clubs to take a punt on him at £11 million, but we did. Fast forward a couple of years after only playing 18 months for us, we sell to Liverpool at £50 million plus. It's what we do, it's what makes us competitive, it's what makes us attractive to up and coming players who want to prove their worth. We will now sign a player like Somedo for £12-15 million, and we will repeat the above.
There's no fee agreed though is there? I thought the news today is him stating his prefrence not they've bid the most.
I was more on about the players that have left already. Van Dijk seems the same according to journos.
Again I was answering a post that was on about 6 players going to Liverpool. I said it's simply they bid more.
And not keep any of these players together long enough to progress and challenge any further. Top half is really good for us if you look at our history, but I still want to at least try and be ambitious enough to improve even more.
