Just watching the BBC West news. Apparently as the 4,000 hotel beds in Cardiff sold out ages ago in advance of the CL final, Bristol hotels have been tripling their prices. There's nice. One Real Madrid fan has passed through Bath and Bristol after walking all the way from Spain!

 

Reminds me of that story that Victor Spinetti told of his grandfather walking, before the days of passports, from Italy to South Wales to work in the coal mines. And all he had was barely enough money for the Channel crossing. Poverty and Football can make people walk long distances. Motivations at the polar ends of the scale.

 

If they ever held a final here I would welcome as many people that could get through the door. For nothing too. Football is a network of individuals spending over the odds to watch something they love.

The allocations from uefa are a joke though, not sure about the CL final, but for the EL final United and Ajax got 9,500 tickets each in a 50k seater stadium.

A friend of mine goes to the Marriot gym by College Green and he said there were loads of security and Heineken girls there and the staff were acting a bit strange when he asked why. He reckoned one of the teams were staying there, don't see why myself as they could obviously just stay in Cardiff, but he was pretty sure it must have been somebody/something pretty big for the amount of people there.

I know Rugby teams stay there when playing at the Millennium Stadium but that means nothing.
