I think they'll probably take into consideration our finances and squad overhaul. Steve Gibson has made his intentions clear, he's willing to spend big and keep the squad together to go straight back up. They seem at the moment the best equipped out of the three relegation clubs to go back up, so I think they are probably justified being there at the moment. The odds will change as signings start happening and managers are appointed.
This is what really pisses me right off. Steve Gibson has come out and publicly stated his intentions, whereas we are constantly kept in the dark, why is it so hard to share information? Why do we always have to do things at a very slow pace? It's now three weeks since DM ran off and we're no further forward, you'd have thought that either Bain or Short would have made some sort of announcement before now. Or are we not worth considering?
regarding the transfers I understand and see the point you're making - but the fact that Steve Gibson has done that is great for the fans - but potentially adds millions onto any player they want to sign and could hinder them. I'd prefer Short to be willing to spend but not tell everyone. No idea whether he will be.
Agreed with the transfer policies, but was more concerned about our lack of managerial activities, surely this is of more importance? after all, isn't it the manager who makes the request for players?
True true and true!! Except under a DoF model - which we apparently don't have!! But apparently the transfer window doesn't open until (according to some reports) 9th June and (according to other reports) 1st July. 1st July would make sense as that is when Larsson and O'Shea's contracts run to (And apparently both are to be offered new deals I read earlier!)
While i'm all in favour of not rushing in and appointing just anyone, I would have thought that Baines and Short would have at least a short list in the event of DM running off. Apparently not and once again we are dragging our heels.
We're not in the dark though. Short and Bain have both said we're skint. The books every year support it. We're not in the dark mate, we're in debt with a deadline coming up(we've been told this). Safe to assume it takes priority over a year one promotion push. Boro don't have our debt. Gibson can commit funds. Different story for us.
But we are in the dark, there's been nothing said from the club, re: New Manager or rather the lack of one. I wasn't on about the state of our finances, the whole world knows we're skint.
I've got no issue with it mate. As long as somebody is appointed in the next few weeks then that's fine and they'll have enough time to prepare for the season. I think somebody will be appointed in as little as 7-10 days though.
I'm not really bothered how long it takes as long as they make the right choice. While I'm pretty certain its going to be a long rebuilding process and we won't be back up straight away, the process has to start right away. We need a long term plan and the next manager has to fit in to that long term plan even if he's not going to be at the club in 2, 3 or 4 years time. Its no good appointing some has been like some of the names mentioned. Its got to be someone who's got their finger on the pulse of all the latest tactical, technical, technological, medical and psychological thinking associated with the game. If that turns out to be someone most of us have never heard of, that's fine by me.
I hope you're right mate, all this betting odds is doing my tit's in. I just wish for once we could get someone in quick and give him time to prepare properly as this of all seasons, requires probably the biggest squad rebuild since Bruce left.
Well if we are waiting for Mcinnes to return from holiday And he becomes our manager THATS FINE However if he is not the chosen one. We again have waisted valuable time.
It has to be the right man, Vince. I'd rather they take time to get it right like they seem to be doing. It's a massive appointment and could define our football clubs future for the next 10 years. Plenty of time yet.
O'Shea is now 18/1 forth favourite for the managers job. With the finances the way they are, Short could be rubbing his hands together thinking he can get a manager on the cheap, which the likes of O'Shea, Phillips et al would be.
