I once read a biography of Richard Prior and talked about him finding humour in some of the **** he went through.
One time he got so mashed up he set himself alight in the street and told a story about how everyone got out of his way
My son died in 1994. I got to a bad place in early 1996 and a real sad place in 2009.

Both times I needed counselling to help me.

In 1995 I rang the samaritans cos the world was too dark for me to see what to do. I spoke to this woman and told her about my sons death and (swear to God) she shouted out " Oh My God...thats awful...I would never cope with that" and then started sobbing. I just hung thinking that at least I ain't that ****ed up!

In November 2008 (on the anniversary of his death) I went to Greenwich Park where I had a tree planted next to a bench in memory to my son.

I had been to the Lane the night before where we had beaten Liverpool in the League Cup. It sounds stupid but cos of the timing it felt like my sonwas at the match.

The next day I went to my sons tree and had a coffee and read the sports reports of our matches....while it was pissing down with rain. I looked like a community care case to the passers by

The fact that I can laugh at my lunacy tells me it's ok to be upset sometimes...ying and yang or some bollocks like that!

Served in the RN 22 years and saved up and started to buy property. I now own 14 houses that make me a nice little earner...

I'm a gas lighter. Getting hard to find jobs in my line of work. May become a driver, no way they could automate that.

Hardly suprising you cant get a job if you go round lighting gas!

Driverless cars are coming. Was also reading an article about Amazon etc looking at a developing drone delivery system.

 

HIAG's given himself a hard-on calling me Windy Miller, because I used to have a Saturday job as a Baker when I was a lad. Classic infantile desperation from him really seeing as he's got **** all else to talk about.

And anyway, Windy Miller is a Socialist hero, baking all that bread for the working class people of Trumpton.

Re Prior, i saw him live when I lived over there. He was hilarious! I remember that story, he'd been Freebasing - trying to smoke a mix of coke abd heroin. He set light to himself and in a panic, started running. The line was 'when you are running down the street and you are in fire, people will get out of your way'

He was actually quite badly burnt and spent some time in hospital.
