In what sense has he "done a runner"?

His book is a fascinating read btw. You'd have to come up with something a bit more original and entertaining than most of your posts to sell one book, never mind 10 million quids worth.

I read the Global Minotaur, although I think he's done another 2 or 3 since then - a lot of money in selling to the crowd, fair enough.

Gordon Brown had the UK economy back to growth before Osbourne pulled the plug on it with his "omnishambles" budget. If I could be arsed I'd google some figures from the Economist or FT to illustrate that, but you'd probably google some cobbled up graph from City AM or some **** to allegedly show otherwise.

Anyway, there isn't an economics professor anywhere in the world unaware that you don't try to reduce borrowing during the deflationary period of an economic cycle.

There isn't an economics professor alive who has ever experienced a China exporting us ever cheaper socks during our own recessions. Nobody has any ****ing idea what they are dealing with this time - it's worth stating this again and again towards those of us who think there are simple solutions.

I was referring to Adults In The Room.

Anyway, the guy's an academic, not a politician. Tsipras recruited him as finance minister because of his understanding of economics, but in the end he realised that he couldn't function in government without compromising his moral and academic integrity - I don't call that doing a runner, I call it refusing to be corrupted.

There are no simple solutions, granted.

But there are lessons from history that governments consistently fail to learn. And there are idiot mistakes, which really ought to be easily avoided - George Osbourne seemed intent on making all of them. Then when he did recognise the need to try and breath some life into the economy, he allowed the banks to print money purely to sit on cash reserves that should have been investing in the economy. Now those same bankers are paying themselves fat bonuses again with the money the government made available to underwrite their gambling losses.

And yet the conservatives are still supposed to be trustworthy with the economy - I mean people have heard that falsehood so often that it's accepted as fact.

Mushrooms = fresh. Fact. Mushrooms supplied/delivered 6 days per week (with lots of other fresh fruit and veg) by "Glasgow Fruit Market", 210 Kennedy St, Glasgow, G4 0BQ. My father and I have been using their produce for decades. We use lots and lots of mushrooms on a daily basis as they feature in the sauce of the two most popular chicken dishes that we sell- Pollo Cacciatora and Pollo Stroganoff. We also have two very popular starters featuring breaded and fried mushrooms too. We go through 3-4 boxes of fresh mushrooms per weekday and 16 per weekend (no deliveries on a Sunday so we get extra on Saturday morning).
We do use some tinned veg for Pizza toppings though: jalapenos & sweetcorn and our excellent olive oil and herb marinated artichoke hearts are from a jar. We use the artichokes for other dishes too. Shock horror.
So to answer your question: not very difficult (to buy and use fresh mushrooms).
I'm away now to change my crying newborn baby. He's great. Hopefully when he grows-up, he won't be the sort of person to unjustifiably criticise hardworking and honest chefs/businesses with falsehoods and half-witted opinions mis-stated as facts.
Great to hear you won't be back to our restaurant. We don't care for the custom of presumptuous individuals deficient in judgement and good sense.
