Jeez, just woke up to a bunch of worried text messages from family and friends.

Had been planning to go out in central London tonight, but instead fell asleep in my flat after the UCL final, about 18 minutes north-west of the main incident.

Hope those who were actually in the area manage to pull through.

    Yep, awful news.

Three suspects shot dead and a response time of two minutes from the emergency services, being reported. Two minutes after the attack, the officers arrived on scene and after a further six minutes, the three suspects were shot dead.

This is very sad news for the victims and their families............It is not going to be good news for others either....sadly it will bring out the vigilante groups with it. So far it has been mainly beatings but it won't be too long before it goes far beyond that.
I guess this is what the IS and co want....evil bastards!!

A practical point occurs to me. We've now had more than one of these attacks on a bridge in London. It seems to me that bridges are perhaps seen as vulnerable points because pedestrians are basically trapped - nowhere to escape to. I was in Berlin about a month ago and noticed that on the bridges there (well, the bridges I happened to cross) they had lines of concrete bollards/blocks along the edge of the pavement. I think perhaps we need to do something similar on bridges in London. At worst they're a minor inconvenience for pedestrians but they would make it very difficult, if not impossible, to to drive a car or van onto and along the pavement.

I know pornographic pictures are not allowed on here, but it is not every day you go out to merryily do your gardening and find two Ladies humping in your garden.

    I thought I'd share it:

Excellent point. You would hope that the government will do something.

Unfortunately with these type of attacks there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent it, if someone's wants to drive into someone then they will.

Our three new hens arrived today :)

Maggie, Tess and Georgie. I think Fats offered up the suggestion re "Chicken George" which, as she is a lady, we've converted to Georgie. She is of course the red and white one.

Used to keep some rare breeds when living in the Chilterns 10 miles north of Reading named them after footy teams. The tough aggressive cockerel was called Wrexham, made a mess of the hens when doing his stuff.

My girls will lead pure, unsullied lives thankyou.

Anyway the miserable buggers around here couldn't cope with a cock crowing, they get upset if the church bells ring during a wedding.

Many were tested in Germany after the attack there. Only the metal ones that have to be dug a few feet into the ground were deemed to be effective.
