I've just introduced my boys (6 & 8) to the magic of LeTissier. They asked why I support Saints so had to get youtube on. Now they're in the other room and all I can hear is OH MY GOD. that is AMAZING. How does he currrl it like that? I WANT TO BE HIM NOW! Its great. Genius never gets old.
Indeed, Le Tiss seemed to almost make it look too easy. We are always reminded how, for example, Beckham could curl the ball in at pace from the right, or various other places, with his right foot. Free-kicks etc... Yet MLT could do all those things equally well, and with far less wind up and fuss, but he could also do them with his left foot too. Le Tiss does have a problem to this day though. His goals. Most of them are so incredibly dazzling that they overshadow his other abilities. Never forget that his all round ability was superb, be it passing, dribbling, heading, vision, whatever. He couldn't tackle, yet he could 'remove' the ball from players. And he couldn't run fast, but he could often run fast enough to do the things he needed to do, and he was quick enough over the short yards. He was an artist and genius in an English league and era where hard work was the only thing that was approved of. If he had been playing today he would have been appreciated far more. Mind you, MacDonalds and Malibu with Coke would be out.
In my view I've not noticed much change in the general view of the crowd from then to now. A 50 yard chase for a lost cause still gets a bigger cheer than a bit of skill

This match in future is going to prove to be a challenge for both sets of fans. Liverpool fans will expect half the Saints team to be playing for them at some time in the future and Saints fans will know that at least half of the Liverpool team played for Saints at some time in the past.
