It really shouldn't have been difficult to score 56 runs from 14 overs. Instead we've got 24 runs from 11 overs. Yawn.
Content enough with that session, even if it was a little dull. Pretty essential that we get past the 500 mark when we come in for tea, even if we lose two or three wickets in doing so. That will then allow us to come out after tea, and have a right old swing (and the more wickets in hand, the more we can swing). 45 minutes of heavy hitting after tea, and we could easily find ourselves being able to declare with the best part of 600 on the board and about 75 minutes of bowling.
Berg going there could mean us declaring at Tea now, or being bowled out before hand. Either way, it would save us losing two overs for the change of innings. Hopefully Abbott can hit a handful of boundaries before then.
"Hi, is that Fidel?" "Yeah" "Thanks for your time at Hampshire, you've been a real asset. But given your injuries, you can go now" What a session so far. *I appreciate that this is only Warks. Slightly getting ahead of myself.
What a fabulous start to the Championship season, the Essex debacle apart, and without Vince, Dawson, Topley and Edwards in this match. There is real strength in depth in the squad with Alsop, Taylor and Wheal too. I think that Hants have a real chance of being in the shake up come September.
Got injured yesterday. Wasn't even at the ground today (not sure why - in hospital possibly? getting an x-ray?). But is available to bat (albeit clearly not at 100% fitness) tomorrow. No idea what the injury is.
Although having just typed that, I've listened to Slug's post-match interview and I wonder if it might be more of a personal/family issue for Trott (hopefully not). Slug didn't go into great details, but said that Trott had returned home for today and wished him well.
Oh, ****. I was just about to say I don't wish any ill on him but also kinda hope he can't finish the game because he's exactly the sort of batsman able to bat a long time for a draw and Monday's weather forecast isn't as good as it could be. Now I just hope everything's okay for him.
