The truth is that the Government of any political persuasion could pump in Billions and Billions more money and it would still make no difference! The drugs bill alone is staggering and we expect that we will be looked after from cradle to grave when the population grows older and the younger generations who pay for it all diminishes! The Conservative policy is at least a recognition of the fact that we all have to at least take some responsibility for our own old age care. I don't want to ask my sons to pay for my care when they have burdens of raising their own families. Social care is a huge demographic time bomb and it has to be addressed and we as a society have to face up to the fact that we all share responsibility to ourselves in making our own arrangements to fund it if we are in a position to do so.
Maybe we could all contribute into an insurance scheme that we could call upon when we get old and sick. Perhaps call it National Insurance or something like that.
I really don't know who to vote for, I'm not someone who votes for the same party every time, because that's what I've always done and over the years I've voted for 4 different parties. If I look at all the parties manifesto's I find things I agree with and things I don't in all of them. Until such time as there is a sea change in the way government runs and the media reports on political issues, my choice whilst inconsequential will always be a negative one of choosing the party I disagree with least, a protest vote or to spoil my paper, but I will always vote. It's well beyond time that politicians in this country grew up and stopped reducing political debate to the level or squabbling kids in the playground.

But like yourself, my vote will be dictated by who I don't want to get in, rather than voting for who I'd like to. It's a shame we're stuck with FPTP really. But no government who gets in that way has an incentive to bring in STV or similar!
