My practical political opinion these days is that there's a great and general need for a more leftist direction across the board. The Republicans at this point amount to throwing raw meat to their animals so they can loot the US treasury on behalf of the rich. Clintonism lets things slip rightward in the guise of opposing the right wing. Corbyn and Sanders would be good for what ails us--for a decade or two. If I could play mad scientist with the political-economic system, though, it would feature more incentives and accountability in the state sector of the economy. It would also feature slashed defense budgets, a reluctance to engage in the mass murder known as war, and a state that runs in the black in good times so that it can spend freely in bad times to improve the infrastructure and boost employment.

The BBC once again show where their "impartiality" lies by making it impossible for people using Radio 1's website to listen to Liar Liar in the privacy of their own homes, which has nothing to do with impartiality rules at this point.

I agree with that, but that's only because the whole centre ground has moved to the right. I haven't really changed my opinion in years but in that time my views would appear to have changed from centrist to what would probably be described as left wing! Sadly the move to the right has also been accompanied by the destruction of collectivism - and I don't mean that word in a political way. I mean the collectivism of caring for others instead of yourself which seems to be incompatible with the cult of the individual. This goes with the belief (or excuse) that if you give rewards to the individual richest that the result will filter down to the benefit of all - which we have years and years of evidence simply does not happen.

And that is a good argument for yourself to vote Tory. I have no objection to you voting Tory as mainly you need to look out for yourself sometimes. Everyone is entitled to their vote.

I just meant Huddlefro finally has something to vote for and for the sake of personalities is not going to vote for him. Admittedly his shadow cabinet is an absolute mess

The latter is a big an issue as the former IMO. No matter my personal views on him, I don't think he has the people around him, or sufficient support in the PLP, to govern effectively even if Labour won a majority. He has been elected as leader of the party by a smaller and very different demographic than what elected the Labour MPs.

Sorry, it's just not that plain and simple. Can't vote Tory on the basis they are destroying the NHS deliberately and plan to shut my local hospital. I went on a public march this morning through Canterbury to make my voice heard.

I'm torn on who to vote for too. I've spent the majority of my life in a Labour safe seat in the South of Wales, but now I'm in a genuine marginal between Labour and the Tories I can't decide.
If I have to pay more out in wages and in Corporation Tax, I should be poorer, but if everyone around this area is getting paid £10 an hour, more people should be able to afford to use my services. I can't work out how much I lose in this situation and how much I gain.

But economics aside, I don't trust that Theresa May at all. If any politician could convince me that David Icke was right, she'd be the one. And the NHS is in a right mess that won't get solved by outsourcing all its work to the private sector. I've seen enough American tv to know I don't want to have to pay to use the hospital. And Corbyn isn't much better, if he can't hold the loyalty of his own party, what good is he to the country? Though that IRA stuff is complete bollocks, I lost close family during the troubles. It's better for all of us that we managed to close that page in our history book. Fair play to both him and Maggie T for at least that.

From a purely selfish point of view, i'm hoping for a hung parliament. Markets don't like uncertanties and a hung parliament would screw the pound nicely. 1:1 to the US dollar would be ideal in the short term. Obviously in the longer term his royal trumpness will screw the greenback so I need to get shot of my mortgage ASAP.

Can somebody please explain to me how people in this country became so gung-ho in favour of us kickstarting nuclear Armageddon? Did they watch Threads and think "That looks like fun!" or are they determined to make their Fallout LARP group that bit more authentic? If the worst thing someone can say about Corbyn is that he's not willing to make Hiroshima look like a birthday present, then shouldn't that tell them about six different things all at once?

Also, let me just hit put this "loyalty of their party" bollocks to bed: the Tories are not loyal to their leader, and never have been. How loyal were they to Cameron this time last year? Half of the party were campaigning against him this time last year, while certain members of his party claimed to support him but put in so little effort that they may as well have thrown in with the others - and look how well it worked out for them. How loyal are the party to May, considering how few of them seem willing to put their necks on the line to campaign on her behalf? And let's not forget that, when it came down to them or her, the Tories showed how little loyalty they had for Thatcher.

And, no, the Lib Dems aren't above this, considering they have shown themselves as only too willing to knife Kennedy and Campbell, but sell the party itself down the river and switch allegiance tot he Tories.

Clearly there's going to be winners and losers with every election. Sadly there's rarely ever common ground.

Right now I feel like I'm more willing to pay a little more in corp tax (putting asides my beliefs this policy won't work) in the hope it gives this country a fighting chance of saving public services.

The Tories don't care. Everything we built in this country is for sale to the highest bidder and it's about time they got a bloody nose.

When I first checked this, the Labour manifesto stated that there would be
a "small business" CT rate of 20% . As CT is then going to I guess be rated by
your profit and not the scale (personnel etc) of your company, then I assume the
    former is your actual issue.

As for your other comments, the tax man etc has always waged warfare on
the proverbial "little man" because they are jobsworth Nazis and you
generally do not financially bite back.

Government is obliged to go after what I call "Big Business" (TM) , which
is not the same thing as a big (in scale) business.

    Swings and roundabouts.

I was paid in Euros for a recent gig, and during 2015 GBP
went from 1.26EUR to close to 1.45EUR in a couple of months
    (I was losing 200 quid a week) .

Similarly in 2008, the rate was in the 1.15 - 1.20 range, and I
was doing ok out of it.

The Dire Leader is saying there is too much tolerance in this country.

I know, just look how much tolerance we have for the ISIS-funding, 9/11-supporting, Yemeni-murdering, human rights-abusing ally that is Saudi Arabia.

We're also far too tolerant of our publicly-funded broadcaster lying to us...

The former head boy at Cheltenham College has deleted or close his social media accounts.
    I can't think why.
