Also Sead Kolasinac has been named in the Bundesliga team of the year. Looks like he may be abetter signing than most gooners realise.
I'm not rolling I'm sorry. I'm too cynical. Either Wenger know Mbappe is definitely on his way to Madrid and is putting this bid in to look like he's active or the bid didn't happen. Sorry fam!
Would love to see Mbappe at Arsenal Sadly I cannot see it happening seeing as Real have already bid 120m euros
Liverpool trying to sign Salah. £28m rejected. Roma want £35-40m. Seriously. WTF? Can't we just sell them Walcott for £60m?!?!
Mahrez, lacazette, mbappe, aubamayang, griezman, all potentially moving this summer, if we are willing to make bids in the £90m region surely we can have a proper go at getting at least one of these guys? I appreciate they have varying levels of realism to whether they are possible.
Yes but then you'd have to spend the 90m on one player, something Wenger doesn't want to do in my opinion (he has form for this) hence your Mbappe 87m fake bid (he won't go at that price)
From the sound of it we have more than that to spend. We appear to be getting a defender on a free so 90m on one player plus however much on another addition would seem possible. Plus lacazette and mahrez would be £50m or less I'd assume. Griezman would be 87m (that's his release clause if I remember correctly), aubamayang 70-80m maybe? Mbappe 100m-ish?
Unfortunately that is now the going rate for top players. I don't think Wenger is opposed to paying that amount if it means we get somebody like Mbappe or Auybamyang
Would f*cking love Auybamyang. He's proven his ability for repeated seasons. Quick, quality finisher and would benefit hugely from playing in front of Alexis/Özil. Mmmbob is clearly hugely talented but it's a very unlikely and expensive gamble. I just can't see us being able to entice any of those 4 players mentioned tbh but, being honest, I didn't expect us to get Özil or Alexis either so I guess you never know.
The going rate back when Higuain moves to Napoli was 30-40m. Wenger was infatuated (or doing what hes doing now with Mmmm bop) with Suarez and eventually turned back to Higuain whom Napoli paid more for so Wenger didn't challenge. I see Aubamayeung going the same way as Wenger makes a half hearted attempt at Mbappe. Lacazette maybe if Mourinho doesn't gazump him. Think Griezmann said he's staying i think as Atletico have a transfer ban Mahrez is possibily most likely, another skillful technical playmaker at half the price of these top forwards rather than the striker you need
Instead of throwing the so called 100Ms at Mbappe, Aubameyang would be a cheaper and safer bet. Wenger ain't fooling me though
One thing I've learnt from all our painful transfer windows, is it depends on what Wenger wants. I strongly believe that we have more than enough money to afford some top players, but it all comes down to if Wenger wants them. Ozil and Sanchez is proof of us buying top players when Wenger wants them, but he also is very hesitant and indecisive, this is why we desperately need someone in charge of these things. If the Management wasn't bullshitting about getting help for Wenger, then maybe this person will take the lead on this? I really can't stomach another sub par transfer window. These are the kind of things that make us mad at Wenger and the lot of them. But i also believe that we need to cut some of our squad, in case the wage bill is a problem. We seem to have a lot of decent but not great players on high wages. I believe that our wage structure needs to be looked at before it becomes an excuse not to get some top players in. Better to have quality over quantity.
We're not getting a top world class striker. It's been over a decade since we have. Wenger will do his usual bidding for unrealistic targets just to keep you lot happy, and then the same thing will happen next season. I do find it funny you guys actually think we're in the running to sign these strikers.
Does anyone? I think it's more they're around and looking to leave so you may as well through money at them and hope.
Neither do i, but sooner or later they'll have to buy the striker. I mean, what other area is the most obvious for us, and we do have a shed load of cash. If it's going to happen then it has to happen now surely?
Off the top of my head we have 3 areas that need addressing the most, central defence, creative/attacking midfielder to cover Cazorla and a central striker. Out of those three areas, the weakest is the central striker role, something that was traditionally our strongest point when we were the most successful. Yes we can play Sanchez, Giroud and Welbeck there but is that really the solution? For us to get back into mix, we need a striker that will score around 25+ goals in the league and who can do that something special when we need the most.
Young Mbappe is going to be the new Benzema, a guy Wenger will chase for years and have no chance of getting, if it's true that Madrid have already offered £100 odd million, then our bid is to just show the fans that we were 'in for a world class talent' when we failed to land any later in the summer.
My prediction of who is coming and going from an attacking point of view (excluding deadwood): Out: Alexis, Lucas In: Mahrez, (özil staying), a-new-lucas
