Would be replacing Rashford or Martial on the left wing as someone that can for the ball and also track back. Apparently the price is now €52m - double what I'd say he is worth but if he fits your system better he is worth it.
If so then hopefully that will see Rashford moving to the striker position. Not sure he'd replace Martial, but more likely be a different option in games where we need a hard working winger rather than just attacking players. At the moment our only hard working winger option really is Young, and he should be anything more than a backup if we hope to push on next season.
He is almost purely a left winger - that is where you played Rashford and Martial. Would be good to See Rashford as a pure centre forward but can see Martial leaving on loan - maybe to Monaco as part of the deal for one of the many players you are linked from them? You are linked with Victor Lindelof again for £35M - less then you bid last season. If the Perisic deal wasn't so OTT, I might have said that Woodward finally learnt how to negotiate.
Variations on a theme in the press today.......... no new deal for Zlatan - which, to a degree you can understand - massive wages to pay and the uncertainty of how he is going to recover - and we still have to pay mega-bucks in the interim for a replacement, however temporary. The best option to replaced him according to the Express is a cash/player deal with Everton - Lukaku in exchange for Rooney plus some cash. More concerning is the suggestion we might be letting De Gea go as part of the deal to get Varane in from RM. I would much rather we keep DG and pay cash (of which we have plenty) for Varane if that's who JM wants
Mouriniho likes him and that is all that matters in the end and seems like he tried to make make Varane one of his first signings - it worked out for you in the end though as you ended up signing Bailly instead.
The thing is Real Madrid are not going to sell us Varane, if we don't let them have De Gea. Even if we make a good cash offer for him, they'll still want De Gea. So I don't think we should target anyone from Real Madrid, including Rodriguez who I don't want. I'm glad the whole Griezmann deal has lost momentum too, he's not as good as his release clause would make us pay. Perisic would be a good signing, he's one of the few players in world football who is completely 2 footed. He's very creative, and he's a good finisher. The one player who I really want to see us smash the transfer record for is MBappe. I know Real Madrid are in the driving seat for him, but we may aswell try and get him. If anything atleast well make Real have to pay a fortune for him, if we get involved in the bidding. I even think 100 million+ would be a good signing in today's market, as the lad is a huge talent, and looks destined to go right to the very top.
If we're spending £100m plus, I would prefer to go for the finished article - Harry Kane, rather than a youngster with undoubted potential - but potential also not to settle in the PL. having just said that, I see from Sky that we are now being linked with a swap deal with RM for De Gea and Alvaro Morata plus £22m for us.
Well that depends how you define as finished article? Harry Kane is a proven PL goal scorer, but has he proved it at the highest level like MBappe did this season in the CL. i know it's only one season, but at 18 for me he is already more established as a top striker than Harry Kane is. Kane has flopped for England at a major tournament, and couldn't do the business in the CL this season. I do actually like and rate Harry Kane, and think he will go on to succede at the highest level, I just disagree that he has proven himself as the finished article more than MBappe has. As he quite clearly hasn't. If you offered me either of them at the same price it would be MBappe all day long as I think he's a potential superstar, and by that I mean future Ballon Do'r contender. Where as I'm not sure Kane is at that level.
£100m is ridiculous for an 18year old regardless of how good he has been this past season. To justify such hefty price tag, even by today's mad standard, he needs 3 good years under his belt and also has to have markability value to match. The fees suggested shows how foolish the game has become. Everyone is so desperate to get the "next this, next that". There is no doubt in my mind that Monaco is doing a media campaign to artificially boast his value - Play him for one season, get £100m. GENIUS!
£100m for talent/potential alone is ridiculous. Nobody knows how these players will behave if they have off field issues. All it takes is a small bump in the road for them personally and your £100m investment gets pissed on.
That Morata one is already doing my head in, I'm sick of signing players who dream of winning things with Real Madrid. Let's put Rashford, the boy who loves this club, on the bench and sign Morata who'd pounce at the first sniff of a 2nd return to the club who don't appreciate him.
There are rumours that you are after Douglas Costa and Renato Sanches from Bayern - as you are close to signing Persic I can't see Costa happening but Sanches has done bugger all at Bayern and Mouriniho is a fan.
This would be an interesting signing for you as well - John Terry http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/619896/John-Terry-Manchester-United-Transfer-News Really doubt it'll happen but if it does, would be more for his leadership skills rather then playing and if you do end up signing younger defenders and offloading the likes of Smalling and Jones could it end up being a masterstroke?
