Well this could run and run... It's a moot point. I already stated that those named 'loyal' players all had a geographical connection to their clubs. All you did was name another who fitted the same criteria. A better example would've been someone like Javier Zanetti. Courted by Real Madrid for years, would never leave.
Careful Griezmann clearly has a geographic connection what with him being French and playing in Spain.
I never said there were no examples, I even threw in Zanetti to help your argument. I said everyone named in the discussion had.
It's all well and good making noises the fans want to hear but let's see what happens if someone has a bid accepted and offers him premier league football and a higher wage.
If we were in for a League 1 player and the clubs agreed a fee would you expect them to turn us down out of loyalty?
Exactly. I believe this started with me saying most won't be loyal but some players are, but they're a minority.
But the exceptions that prove the rule are pretty much all supporters of the clubs they stayed at or signed for, that doesn't apply to us and hasn't done since Deano and Barmby.
Not quite the same as this scenario when we're a reasonable chance to be back in that league next season. Bloody hell, Diame turned down a better pay packet with us and pl football to play championship football with a better club.
Dawson last time we went down said he'd stay for a season to try and get us back up. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...s-Championship-slog-Steve-Bruce-s-season.html He was even linked with pl new boys Bournemouth at the time.
Now they will be as they're now back in the pl. What did they pay him last season compared to our offer of pl football and pl wages?
Bournemouth did, and he committed before the window closed, so unless he's clairvoyant he wasn't to know who would or wouldn't lodge a bid. This is all beyond silly. Some players may well be happy to give us a season. The club may still want to sell him. There might be some the club wants to keep who want to go. I think Clucas might end up in the former category and we'll see where he ends up come 1st September.
