ITK on Saintsweb says he believes we will be talking to him shortly. Edit- this tweet has been found out to be fake and an "inside joke". Not connected to Saintsweb (hopefully)
My only frustration on the Tuchel front, is that if Les is looking for a compliant manager, he's not going to get one in TT. Saying that though, Poch and Koeman were hardly lapdogs, so.....
This Tuchel stuff has to be bollocks doesn't it? I mean we may approach him if we are looking for a new manager as he is someone we have looked at before and is out of work, but surely it will be something like a phone call with his agent and his agent being "Southwho?" and that being the end of it?
Does Les want a compliant manager? He wants someone who buys into our system and he can work with...but I bet he'd love someone who just gets on with it and is a success, leaving him to do what he does. Just a rumour with a life of its own....multiple repetition doesn't make it true. Just something for a slow news day. At least Leihberr Legacy hopes it is....otherwise he is going to have a big bar bill.
My German friend basically laughed when I said there was a chance. Thing is though, unless he wants a year out, there's hardly a plethora of big jobs out there right now that don't have someone lined up already. It would likely be a stepping stone to come to us, but...I don't think it's impossible.
I can see him coming here for a couple of seasons learning the premier league and then moving on to Arsenal when Wenger eventually leaves. He's seen other managers use us as a stepping stone so why couldn't he do the same.
Or unless Everton offer him £10 million a year and a massive WARCHEST once they get fed up with Koeman not winning anything for them!
Really ? - I think if he played centre forward all season he`d get more goals than certain other strikers. I`m trying to remember who he scored that back-post volley against this season.
Can't underestimate the profile of the league we're in, though. Plus, Klopp knew of us before he came to Liverpool, so we must have some profile. We have the 18th biggest wage bill of all clubs in Europe, and we finished 8th in the highest profile league in the world. I'd say our lack of any European competition will count heavily against us, though. I read Roma are after him.
The Southwho comment was pretty tongue in cheek, but yeah, I can't see a manager as highly regarded as Tuchel wanting to come here unless he really wants to manage in England. Will happily swallow my words and be mocked if he does though.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is being touted as the new Sunderland manager. I wonder if Saints have thought about him ? When he was at Bristol City, they beat Saints home and away in the Championship. Then he got sacked. Maybe not then.....
I really can't see us getting any reasonably "high profile" manager (that we would want) coming here, regardless of 8th in highest profile league, 18th biggest wage bill in Europe, etc. I really don't see us being that big a "pull" for that calibre of manager. I'd like to be wrong on that but more likely & we should hope Les pulls out another Pochettino MkII.
Err........ shouldn't we actually wait until he needs to pullout another Pochettino mark MkII? After all Puel hasn't actually gone yet......or have I missed something?
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/15325085.Saints_will_make_their_own_call_over_Puel/ According to the Echo, Saints are not concerned with whether another club comes in for Puel...they will make their decision based solely on footballing reasons. That must make Claude feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
