Not saying I'd want him but he's been linked heavily with us. Is that Wenger news official or just more speculation? I'm not counting my chickens until I hear it from the club. I was 99% sure he'd go but then we won the cup and it made me think there was a slim chance he'd leave on a high.
It's official http://www.not606.com/threads/arsene-wenger-arsenal-manager-agrees-two-year-contract.348723/
Not really a surprise was it? You think Arsenal had any other plans other than Wenger signing a new deal? Why do you think the whole thing played out like a pantomime. Wenger was loving every minute of it.
F*ck it, it's done now. Not what I wanted but I'll just cheer the team on and hope we continue in the same form/style we ended the season. Hopefully will mean Mesut signs and massive fingers-crossed Alexis does too.
Sky are reporting that we've agreed a £6.8m fee with K.A.S Eupen in the Belgian First Division for Henry Onyekuru. The 19 year old got 24 goals and 9 assists in 41 appearances last season. From what I've seen on YouTube, he looks impressive and there were quite a few clubs after him too such as Liverpool, Southampton and Everton. I've said before that I have no issue with us signing young, foreign players providing that they are in addition to strengthening our first team as well. If Wenger thinks this signing and the free transfer from Schalke are going to satisfy the fans, he is living in an entirely different universe to the rest of us. The positive is that at least we look to be doing business early, even if it's not the calibre of player we want. But we'd better be looking for actual first team quality players as well.
The problem is wengers favorite thing to do when questioned about signings is to name all the youngsters he's signed. "Arsene are you looking at a striker?" "We have bought already onyekuru. Also we have sanogo. And we have Adelaide and akpom that can play there as well." Let's face it; Onyekuru and kolasinac are going to be our signings for this summer.
Onyekuru sounds the business. Fast, like a running at people and scores lots. Signature chased after too. He's cheap and not known here but that doesnt bother me if he can play. People will winge obviously but You can guarantee if we don't sign him and he is sold 2 years down the line for 40m plus they'll moan even more. Agree with Brunel though. Can't see him being our only forward business of the summer, especially if OG leaves as he's intimating.
I'd take him, cost pending. £25-30m and I'd think it's worth it. You know what he can do and he's capable of winning games on his own. I'd want him in addition to Alexis though, rather than as a replacement. I'd have Alexis central in place of Welbz/OG and put him where Alexis has been recently.
Yeah i'd take Mahrez but not at the expense of Sanchez. He is proven quality and has a fair few years ahead of him. Would be easy to slot him into our side and would help with our goals and assists. Love to see him and Sanchez tear it up for up. Also he would be affordable for us, so no excuses from the management on this one.
Oi! Lazarus gets a like for saying pretty much the same as me. That's f*cking rude that is. Other big plus with Mahrez is his set pieces. We have decent set piece takers but nobody in his class.
Is he even that good at set pieces? I'm not sure i can't remember him scoring any frees and stuff. I think Ozil and Sanchez (corners and free kicks) are just as good. Think he would be quite good for you boys. The only thing i would question is the following: I'm not sure Mahrez is much of a runner in terms of making runs past a defender (he likes the ball to feet) and also his defensive work. You already have enough slackers in the team and ozil needs people who are good technically and can make good forward runs to be effective so he can play the eye of the needle passes. Mahrez is a great dribbler but he always likes a dribble and lost it quite a lot last year (was brilliant the year before). With both Sanchez and Mahrez liking a dribble how often would you guys lose possession. Still though i reckon he'd be a good buy
Think he'd be superb with someone like Mesut feeding him the ball. As to his set pieces, I'm sure I haven't made that up. He can smash a free kick can't he? I'm off to google it right now. Work are lucky to have me...
