Can I just remind you that this young lady wrote this when she was SEVENTEEN yet still the industry won't touch her. It may well not be to your personal taste, but if you have that level of musical ability/complexity at that age, the fact the industry won't invest in development of this kind of artist, but will spunk money on that John Lewis ad dreary ****e is outrageous. Go for this in headphones.
That's very appropriate to mention that. It's Neil Young's edge and rawness to his music that sets him apart. I've only met one person who genuinely disliked his music, but that's because he liked CSN with their smoothness and Y shook them up a bit, which he really didn't like. By the way, I liked Cassandra Wilson's version, mainly because although Harvest Moon is a pretty little song, I honestly don't think it completely works. I think NY compromised on the line 'On this Harvest Moon'. Although the three note riff is unmistakeable and magical. Having said that, Young is not the best guitar player around, I think that's obvious, but he gets so much heart and soul into every track he writes, whether it's something outwardly rocky and accessible, like Cinnamon Girl [do check that out] or introspective and quiet, like Old Man. And saying that, I think it's my turn. This resonates with me hugely these days, it's very odd because I never thought it would, despite me loving it. Also whenever I hear it, I'm transported back to NZ by that banjo accompaniment. Don't quite know why, but it's vivid and tangible. And if a banjo ever fitted in as a musical instrument, it's here:
Well that's ****ing awful and I don't mind saying it. Bored the pants off me with its total lack of depth.
Yeah, I do like that song. Is she destined to be a fringe act despite her obvious talent though.? I mean, Electronica was very big in the 1980's but I very rarely hear it now in the mainstream. For example, if Michael Mann had ever heard that song, back in the 1980's he would have undoubtedly added it to the soundtrack of the film Manhunter. When you hear what is included, Stranger in my Head fits right in there. Even the subject matter of song and film is kind of appropriate.
Bloody night shifts doing my head in... Finish at 7, back in at 7am on Friday Off to view a car in the morning after work too, gonna have to stay up all day (well until about 5).
LTL, I'll be honest never listened to any Fable (sorry!), but this is good. Very Sinead O'Connor 'The Lion and the Cobra' if you don't mind me saying - Really good stuff.
Live she is a LOT more rock than electronica. Who knows regarding her destiny - we need to drop the right song at exactly the right time, because we don't have a rich mum and dad on the scene as many do nowadays.
Yeah, MrsW wears them these days. Sensible doesn't begin to describe them. She's gone from being a minx to being her mum in one fell swoop (I think I'm safe, she doesn't look on here!).
Some sick ****s are trying to make money on the Manchester One Love concert on Sunday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40118865
Hmm considering watching all 6 seasons of game of thrones again prior to season 7. One season a week.
