Have no issue with Shane moving on as goal ratio is pretty dreadful and I believe he is on a pretty good wage so if we can recoup the transfer fee which I believe was around £12-£14m then happy days Assuming we replace him!
If we can get £10m+ for him we should accept it. Shane Long is a decent player and he does cause problems. However, he is extremely reliant on his pace and has little to offer without it. He is 31 in January so will soon start to lose his pace and will become worth very little when this happens. Cashing in on him now would be very sensible and would allow us to reinvest rather than simply lose an asset.
Lucas Perez has told arsenal he wants to leave. Now that would be the sort of player I'd be interested in.
Incorrect. Look at all competitions. Long has scored 5 goals in 19 starts. Perez has scored 7 goals in 9 starts. Go figure!
Is there a way that Long can recreate himself in a different position? He did OK when played wide, he has the energy for midfield but I have never really paid much attention to his tackling and passing. Maybe he could be our Victor Moses
