http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/keane-makes-mls-move-to-galaxy-150811.html The Club can announce that it has reached agreement with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy for the permanent transfer of Robbie Keane. The Republic of Ireland captain originally joined us from Leeds United in August, 2002 and was part of our 2008 League Cup winning side. He rejoined the Club in February, 2009 after a six-month spell at Liverpool and more recently has spent time on loan with Celtic and West Ham. We wish him all the best for the future.
Its better than you think. It's obviously a league in progress. It will never be a great league, but it will be a pretty good league. I might have been to nice on the bad teams in the MLS, but I'm confident that top half teams in the MLS would be Middle of the pack championship side. New YorkRedbulls beat Arsenal and PSG to win the Emirates Cup. Felt bad for Arsenal bout that. Set up a tournament every year so they can win something, only to lose to an MLS team. But regardless we can't really compare the leagues since they don't regularly play each other. But hopefully Keane joins the Galaxy, he'd improve our team and we'd get his wages off your back.
Does he say stuff like that as a bit of a joke. Or is he just an idiot who doesn't realise he's constantly mocked for calling every move a "dream"?
It is a dream come true to be paid a ****load of money for being a bit past it, and lets face it, rubbish. I have that dream too.
It probably is, in that he never dreamt that anybody would be silly enough to pay him a ****load of money, ever again. I bet he thinks he's dreaming!!
Maybe he has a bet on with someone and has to say certain things with a straight face in press conferences when he moves? What happens in two years time? "I've always wanted to play in the Saudi league. I love sand, me!"?
I agree the "Ive always wanted to play in the MLS" was daft, but its time to wish him all the best. Overall he was a great player for us - my favourite memory was the final equalizer versus Chelsea in the 4 - 4 a few years back. Just because he hasn't really been the same player since Benitez ruined him, we shouldn't forget some good times. Credit where credit's due.
Liverpool - 2008 "as a fan, joining Liverpool is a lifelong dream of mine and one I couldn't let pass me by" Celtic - 2010 "I am a Celtic fan and did not have to ask much about it. I always wanted to play for Celtic and it works for all parties" LA Galaxy - 2011 "I have always wanted to come and play in MLS so it's the perfect combination for me and a dream come true"
Al-Hilal FC - 2013 "I have always admired the Saudi Premier League, so it works out well for everyone"
What did you lot do to him in Merseyside, he left looking young and fresh and scoring goals for fun, came bk grey hair, and couldn't score in a brothel.
