I would hope the sell on clause is equal to or more than what we paid for him......
Surely as a minimum we will of put our usual 10M ........

So Ehaw said 4 players he expects to go....... So we are amusing Grosicki......
Who else Harry, Robertson and .......... Elmo? Clucas? Hernandez?

    Stayed 4 months.

    Played less than 20 games.

    Didn't score.

And during that time we got relegated.

I don't think that he's going to join the pantheon.

Literally just explained this on the other page, there shouldn't be any confusion over this. The good thing about a release clause (from a buying point of view) is it negates the need for a bidding war.

Club A bids £5m and club B bids £6m (for some reason). Clause active so player can discuss terms with both clubs. Player then chooses where to go. Money is is paid. End of. There's no bidding war, once the clause is active, that's it, Hull City AFC are no longer in control. It's more likely that everybody would bid the same and then the war over contracts would start, but that wouldn't be anything to do with us so it's irrelevant.

It's the same with any release clause! The club will accept it, it has to if it meets the figure quoted. What you seem to be missing is that the figure in the release clause is the only figure they have to bid to be able to talk to the player, there's no need to chuck extra money at us.

Daniel Geey is a phenomenallly informative, I've been to a few of his talks, well worth it. But what you've just quoted is garbage and I highly doubt he said anything of the nature in this context.

The only way I could see a release clause having different values bid would be if it included something about CL clubs. See Kante last season. Arsenal could have gotten him cheaper than Chelsea as Chelsea had to pay more to activate the release as they did not make the CL.

I'm sure many supporters will accept the inevitable of players going.. but my taste for the club will sour even more if Jak is poached by Watford as has been reported this morning....

Would he get the No. 1 spot there? Gomes is 36 now so maybe he would, could be his last shot at PL football.

Similarly there have been release clauses where PL teams have to pay a certain figure and teams outside the PL have a different figure. Suarez's release clause had this in I think.

Indeed, Torino's Bellotti - interesting Utd and Chelsea according to rumour - has a 100m euro release clause but only for foreign clubs. There's no such release for Serie A clubs so they'll have to bid higher.

Out of all the players we are potentially looking like losing I'd be disappointed most if we lost Jakupovic and Clucas. Jakupovic - he's a big character and unequivocally our best keeper. You need big characters (in a positive way) in the team. Clucas great left foot and a terrific engine - team can be built around him.

The rest, whilst disappointing, I could live with them moving on to pastures new.

Agreed about The Jak but on the flip side, the position we need to trim more than any other is goalkeeper. We've got 4 good enough for the Championship and back-up and we desperately need to shift 2 of The Jak, McGregor and Marshall, with The Jak most likely to have suitors.

Simple demand and economics rather than who we want to keep, im afraid.

I think we'll have takers for all 3 as they'd all make decent no.2s for any half decent PL side.

I think we'll only shift one of them, we still need two first choice keepers.

We're not going to get anything like what we paid for Marshall and he's on the longer deal, so if it was me trimming the staff I'd retain him and Mannion and move on the other 2. We simply can't have a £5m keeper on those wages on the bench for another 2 or 3 years, whatever his deal is.

Seems like we didn't pay £5m for Marshall or anywhere close to it. Said that it cost Cardiff £2-2.5m with us not staying up.

Throws into question what we paid for Mason too

What do people think to the free agent list in todays hdm?
Some interesting ones in there, joe ledley stands out for me has quite abit of experiance and could argue hes an upgrade on what we have/have had.
Also think surmans a good player
The marley watkins ones an interesting one as pretty sure we could do with a right winger seems to be able to play right across the front line, impressive goals and assists stats too.
Mulumbus a tempting gamble always thought he was great for west brom in the prem seems to have lost his way abit at norwich
And any opinions on ryan bennett? Not seen a great deal of him

That's my concern. If we could get fees for McGregor and Marshall I'd be happy to see them both go. Use the Jak and Mannion as 1 and 2. Youth gets a chance and Jak becomes number 1.

I haven't got a clue what we paid, just quoting the press figure from the time. I remember some from the Cardiff end claimed we paid £7-8m, sounds bollocks but that might be where the £2.5m was lost for them.

It was £5m inc add-ons, it was never quoted anywhere as £7-8m
