No, the state will actually have some income.

Giving tax cuts to corporations and the rich has never benefited the rest of society. It's the pish trickle-down economics that hasn't worked for centuries. Most companies are registered abroad anyway, and yet still pay ****all tax on their earnings here.

 

How do the other G7 countries manage?

We have the lowest corporation tax rates of any of the biggest economies, and Corbyn's small increase will still keep it the lowest + less than it was in 2010.

I think you'll find that all G7 countries have had a wage stagnation apart from China who are going through the sort of growth transformation that the West went through in the industrial revolution.

My point still stands that we have the lowest CT rates ever and the tax receipts are higher than they've ever been so what's the point in changing it?

Why doesn't the Government just give everyone £1m and abolish the perks of the welfare state?

Well, if they gave everyone £1m then that £1m would instantly lose value through inflation and the fact that everyone had £1m to spend.

Giving people a "living wage" doesn't necessarily mean that these folk will have more to spend especially if inflation shoots up and the £ doesn't recover to buy international goods like phones/pc's/TV's etc.
