It's really really strange on both sides. Unless they win the league or the Europa league the fans will continue to protest every week - why does he want to put himself through that? And why does Kroenke want him to stay?
For a lot of Arsenal fans it's a bit like parole but in reverse. Another 2 years added to the sentence
Wenger makes him a ton of money. The value of the club is rising every year, so why would the owner care if some fans a a little disgruntled?
Arsenal fans do make me laugh, only just miss out on champion league (there are now 6 very strong teams in the league ), win the FA cup, and always look like winning. A few players are holding the club to ransom and Wenger refuses to buckle, yet he is the villian?? Would love to know who they would want to bring in
I would have settled for watching the Arsenal teams and their style of football for the past 20 years along with winning 7 FA Cups, League titles. Would have learnt to live with the pain of not winning the Champions League. I reckon fans of getting on for 86 clubs would feel the same.
Saw a couple of people at Big Weekend on Saturday taking photos of each other with a "Wenger Out" sign. That was less than half an hour after they had just won the FA Cup.
One of the pundits at the weekend was saying that Wenger was Kroenke's "perfect" manager as he delivered the maximum amounts of income (Champions League Qualification - up until this season of course) while spending the minimum amount of money. Whoever it was said that the whole model for Kroenke Sports & Entertainment wasn't to win trophies but to be competitive enough to be make money. I believe he was even quoted as saying: "I didn't buy Arsenal stake to win trophies." All of that said I've no sympathy for Arsenal fans all their moaning is just first world problems IMHO. I'm sick of hearing their fans complaining and, the ones I know at least, always seem to have the least sympathy for fans of clubs with real problems.
Spot on mate. I have a mate who is an Arsnal fan and knows people well connected with the board there. He told me the same thing a few years ago. As long as the club are competitive, make champions league, and are making a profit then Wenger will not be sacked. Personally I can't stand Arsenal, their players or most of the fans.
I ****ing hate Arsenal, 2 more years is perfect. Just need the White ****e to appoint an absolute cockjockey and its happy days all round.
Aside from their fans I quite like Arsenal. They do everything the 'right' way, how many excellent young players have they developed and brought through into not only their own team but other professional teams throughout the leagues. Their success is mostly all down to hard work and patience, unlike the other big boys who buy their way through season after season. It's just a shame that the club is spoiled by the whiniest set of ****s on the planet who support them.
****ing despise Arsenal fans, moreso than any other club, they are the worst fans in the country. They think that success should just be given to them rather than earned. ****s. The number of fans that would genuinely murder in order to have anything even close to Arsenal's success is countless.
Why is this funny? This is owners ****ting on their clubs fans. You lot should be demanding our Trust makes a statement of support for the Gooners. Their club is being run into the ground so their shareholders profit. It's obscene.
Yes, a state of the art stadium which they own, near top of the League every year, winning FA Cups, making a profit. At least under our wonderful owner we don't have to worry about those things.
Funny owners whose targets are making the Champions League And a profit. Maybe a manager who ends up midtable and makes a loss is what they should be aiming for.
