I have seen in the papers today that De Gea is being regarded as a flop after two games. The media pressure is why the best players in the world don't want to come to/stay in England and is a huge factor in the National team's lack of success.

Players are so afraid of failure because they know that if they make a mistake the media will be all over them and that pressure takes it's toll on even the strongest willed players. With regards to the National team, the manager and players are not exactly adventurous in their play and this fear of ridicule is why. The media are ruining English football and I don't see anything being done about it, in fact the FA are constantly bending over backwards to accomodate Sky, the BBC, ITV and any other media outlet who can potentially make them a buck.

Anyway, back to De Gea, to brand him a flop after two games is quite frankly stupid as the lad is only 20 years old and it will take him some time to settle in the area and into the team. So, let's all give him a break and support him so that his cofidence will grow and he can show us his true quality.

Iker Casillas was a keeper who made quite a few howlers in his younger days.

He currently is the reason Reina will never ever get a sniff of the Spanish number 1.

De Gea however will go on to become the Spanish number 1.

Who has said De Gea is a flop?

Do you really think top players care what the media is going to say about them?

Finally, Marca are much, much worse at this type of stuff, they hounded out Pelligrini when he was Real Manager, even though he finished 3 points off Barca in the end, which was respectable considering how good Barca were.

I am sure you have seen some idiots claim hes a flop. Some were doing so before he played a game.

Personally I think hes a great young keeper and would suggest anyone who questions this finds me a keeper who at 20 had never made a mistake or made a howler.

City recently signed Aguero who could have gone anywhere in the world. I don't think the big players stay away.

To be fair he joined a joke club who I have a feeling fill their new players with promises and lies about whats instore.

Its why many many players wearing that **** as **** kit look embarrassed to be playing for city regardless of how much money they are paid.

Just watch them next time. You will see what mean.

I agree except that I would challenge people to find a keeper of any age who has never made a mistake

Anyone who knows me will tell you I have no time for red top rags and their vitriolic headlines in order to sell their papers. But at the end of the day, the stories on De Gea are what everyone tends to be thinking at the moment.

It's up to De Gea to have that mental strength to prove his doubters wrong and show all that he is going to become the world class goalkeeper that many (including myself) believe he can be.

Most of the players who stay away from England give the weather as a reason. I wouldn't want a soft, fair weather pansy at Man Utd.

i think most people saw that he was at fault
    but realise that **** happens

i think what 1 commentator said was true, basically that
beter to have a young de gea that makes mistakes, than to see an older de gea at another club as a phenomenal keeper

the example they gave was petr cech, who if i heard right was over looked by utd due to age

Yet people overlook the number of good saves he has made already.

The position of keeper is the hardest on the pitch (I would say that) but it tends to be true as most mistakes made generally lead to conceding a goal.

I just really don't like this media reaction, which doesn't surprise me at all to be honest and the fact he is a United player only makes things worse.

the media are a funny lot

de gea will come good, i dont doubt it

he had a problem from long range shots coming to utd (11 last season or something)

    he will learn
and as you say he does the other stuff right

Would a top 5 player leave barcelona or real to come and join an english club???????????

I think we will all agree they will not, unless they are either unwanted or have fallen out with the manager

I would say it depends on the player. The Spanish ones probably wouldnt, but anyone else in the right situation perhaps would join a United or Chelsea or City if money was a primary issue.

Its more a question of would an English club bother to bid for or even want to bid for some of the players. We have seen many times how the so called top players dont seem so good in England. The have an easier ride elsewhere.

no barcelona player or real madrid player that is worth anything and can actually command a first team place would move here, as a united fan i know this, lets not be silly, it is a much more attractiv option to stay in spain. Not only the tax breaks but the style of play suits the higher grade players, the weather the lifestyle, the history and many many more things

    Lets not kid ourselves
