Who would be your ideal replacement for Cesc Fabregas, now that his transfer sage with Barcelona has finally been completed?
Also, who would be your nightmare transfer, Joey Barton excepted?

In all seriousness, I think we may make a bid for Mata, or as is being reported Shaktar's Brazilian playmaker Jadson.
We're lucky that we've got Wilshere and Ramsey who can play the Cesc role, but it's clear that we're going to need to replace him.
And with Nasri looking likely to leave too, Wenger is going to need to be decisive in the next couple of weeks.

    Cardiff fan,

Your dealings in buying and selling players are second to none. These players are brought in and sold at a good profit. The manager got Ramsey from us for £5million which I thought was a lot considering we hardly saw him play for us but you beat Man Utd to sign him.

Time to see who you bring in now, who knows one or two new faces might suddenly give you that extra push to the top.

Barton wouldnt be that bad (although not as Fabregas's replacement!). Cheeky bid for Sneijder?

Even given the exceptional skill of Cesc and Nasri, in the last half of last season they offered us nothing, so it's best that they are not playing for Arsenal. The club have guaranteed to spend the money from the sale of these players on strengthening the squad, so I think it's quite an exciting time at the moment.
We need to get it right in who we bring in, but already you can see that players like Gervinho are busting a gut for Arsenal, whereas a few last season (Clichy, Nasri, Denilson, Bendtner) looked like they already had one foot out of the door.
I think this could be a good turning point for Arsenal.

I really think you guys should have taken Thiago off them if he was available. Barca were already dragging their heels about the money and you'd have the feel good of an immediate signing following the loss of your captain.

Even if Barca would let him go, do not think the player or his dad wanted a move to England.

Barton and Modric for Cesk and Nasri?

To be honest that would be a pretty good midfield in my opinion. Would give you that bit of grit that you're lacking.

Any of you lot relieved he's gone? I'm glad as a neutral. It got boring a year ago. I have sympathy though.

I saw it mentioned on another thread - that you don't actually need a squad of flamboyant superstars to win trophies, just a team of players who work together and are committed to the cause. Obviously those players need to have a certain level of skill. But Greece winning the European Cup a few years ago was a good example of a team, who had one or two flamboyant players, but in the main was a grafting workhorse of a team - who knew how to grind out a 1-0 win.

We have got the skill in our squad, we just need to be able to close out games when we go ahead, even if it is boring to watch.
I think Frimpong could have a massive impact on our squad in this respect this season, and if we add another combative CB, then I think we're on the right track.

We used to be known as boring Arsenal, the team who ground out 1-0 wins - at the moment I'd take that tag back with open arms.

Has it come to this, SNIAW?
Dreaming about having Spurs players in your side! <laugh>
Kranjcar can't even get into ours, either.

If Wenger has any sense, then he'll strengthen in the positions that already needed something doing to them and he'll bring in some old warhorses to help nurture Ramsey, Wilshere and the other youngsters.
Players like Parker and Arteta, who know the league inside and out, are good enough to adapt to your system, but won't break the bank.
We'll see what direction he takes now, but I think that you desperately need some leadership.
