    • Leeds United: odds shorten on former Barcelona player as manager
As a player, Denmark international Michael Laudrup played for some of Europe’s biggest teams. On his football CV he can count stints at Juventus, Lazio, Real Madrid and Barcelona amongst his accomplishments.

He is a veteran of 228 La Liga games, 162 Serie A appearances and made 491 appearances in total as a professional. He is a five-times La Liga winner, winner of one Champion League title as well as a Spanish cup winner, amongst other titles. Across his career he scored 101 goals in total, including 50 in La Liga alone where he won two player of the year awards whilst at Barcelona.

Currently he is manager of Qatari side Al Rayyan, having managed the Stars League side for 23 matches since taking up the role on September 26 last year. However, according to online bookmakers Sky Bet, the odds are shortening on him to become the next Leeds United manager.

Since the resignation of Garry Monk, several names have been put forward as vying for the Elland Road hotseat and a shot at managing one of the big names of English football. Leading the pack at the moment, according to Sky Bet, is former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka (11/10), with Premier League winning boss Claudio Ranieri a little further out in the odds (2/1).

Laudrup was nowhere to be seen until recently but has now picked up some momentum and is seen by Sky Bet to be a 9/1 shot to be the next manager at Elland Road. The word on the street is that recently appointed board member Ivan Bravo will have a big say in the appointment of the next Leeds manager.

Bravo will likely know of Laudrup and his time at Qatari side Al Rayyan through his role as General Director of the aspire academy for Sports Excellence in Qatar, a position that he has held since 2011. Laudrup has previously managed in English football with an 84 game period as man in charge at Swansea City between June 2012 and February 2014.

I like the idea of Laudrup as manager. I like his style of play. Unfortunately, like Ranieri, he hasn't got any Championship experience, which is a worry.

Looking at that list I'd be inclined to go for Laudrup.

Afternoon all. On one level, bringing McCormack back would be brilliant. However, he would so have to improve his attitude and become more of a team player that wouldn't happen.

Getting Laudrup in would be an interesting move. Time will tell

    good football

Sadly big Sam retired. I get WJ point on championship experience but if Radz has the funds for quality players then Laudrup would bring good football and I think get us up.

I'm not trolling. I'm saying that IF the new Manager can get McCormack back to his best, and settle him down, he'll be a huge asset.
