The Hornets welcome the Hammers for the first time in the league in four years.

    WATFORD

    • The Manager – Sean Dyche

    View attachment 6503

“Yes, I similarly told the lads that they picked our pockets. To be fair to Nigel, he has been in it longer than me and you have to do that sometimes. We will have to do it to someone else but it hurts when someone does it to you.”

“The general performance was better this week than it was at Burnley when we got a good point up there. There were some very strong individual performances and the side looked very fit today, it looked capable, it looked organised, there are so many things that the staff and players are looking at saying 'there were a lot of good things here”

    • The Hornets

    Scott Loach
    Carl Dickinson
    Martin Taylor
    Adrian Mariappa
    Lloyd Doyley
John Eustace - caution 81 mín.
At 74 mín. Troy Deeney replaced Mark Yeates

    Ross Jenkins
At 56 mín. Gavin Massey replaced Chris Iwelumo
Marvin Sordell - caution 45 mín.

    Substitutes:
    Rene Gilmartin
    Dale Bennett
    David Mirfin
    Troy Deeney
    Gavin Massey

    WEST HAM UNITED

    • The Manager – Sam Allardyce

    sammy.jpg

"We missed too many chances again to just make it more comfortable for us but that aside everything else was very good today. It was a lot like last Sunday [against
CardiffCity]. Lots of good play, lots of chances but this time we got the result. We got the all important clean-sheet and the goal early on. Of course it was a very professional performance.”

“It was a terrific result for the fans. There were more than 3,000 behind the goal and they saw a very professional performance. They were superb.”

    • The Irons

    Robert Green
    Winston Reid
At 67 mín. Abdoulaye Faye relaced James Tomkins - goal 3 mín.
    Joey O'Brien - goal 45+2 mín.
    Herita Ilunga
    Kevin Nolan
Scott Parker - goal 90+1 mín.
    At 75 mín.
    Julien Faubert replaced Jack Collison
    Matthew Taylor
Mark Noble - caution 85 mín.
    At 74 mín.
Frederic Piquionne replaced Carlton Cole - goal 71 mín.

    Abdoulaye Faye
    Julien Faubert
    Pablo Barrera
    Frederic Piquionne

    Who will win?

Current form: Watford have started poorly after the early promise at Burnley but two silly goals and a gift for Derby County has given them one point from six. West Ham could feel cheated after CardiffCity’s last minute goal, they put things right with win in Doncaster.

Akureyri's Prediction: 3-0 It is about time Watford woke up and I think the Hammers will be the unlucky club to feel the Hornets sting.

    There is a history

The last match: Watford – West Ham United 1:0 A September League Cup match saw the newly relegated Hornets scrape through a game that the Hammers just had a little advantage. Even the goal was scored by a West Ham player, Hayden Mullins touched the ball into his own goal after 70 mín. when Jan Lastuvka missed Lee Williamsons free kick.

Further into the past: West Ham have a far better record visiting WD18 than the hosts, nine wins against five. Watford have the upper hand with goals 23:22. The Irons last win in Watford was a 1:2 win in a Sunday match, the last of the 2004-2005 season when they secured a play=off place. Goals by Anton Ferdinand and Marlon Harewood with a 70 mín. penalty gave the visitors a 0:2 lead, before Heiðar Helguson replied with a 89 mín, penaly.

Optimistic AK. Whether we take something from the game or not i don't know but i think the match will suit us more than the game on saturday. West Ham will come with very good players for this level, expectations of winning and look to go out attack and win the game. That will in turn create space for us on the break to use our pace like at Burnley. Rather than saturday which was just like a training exercise. Us trying to break down 11 men behind the ball but just failing with the quality of our final pass. And but for a piece of quality we would have at least drawn that game!

I think Marvin will turn up and run the Hammers ragged.

i'm going for another 3-1 win, West Ham often struggle against us, and though we lost, Saturday will have given the boys confidence imho.

Seen the highlights and listened to Tiny giving his thoughts on a disappointing result. He seems confident that not a lot is wrong and is looking forward to Tuesday.

Norway I agree, I have this one down as a defeat - I can't predict a win every week otherwise the points tally would be silly.

My view is West Ham will be thuggish and its about us keeping our composure with a solid performance - the longer we prevent them scoring the more confident I will be, and as ever we must score first!!!!

Saturdays result has put a bit of pressure on us so I expect that there will be some first half nerves. If we can keep West Ham out for he first 45 mins I think we will nick this one - but not sure where the goal will come from. 1-0.

Well we will be up for this one, hopefully! West Ham are pretty much the biggest club in this division (do you think I should post this on the Forest board for a bit of wumming?) so it will have that big match feel to it, under the lights as well. I still feel we'll struggle to get anything out of this but in the spirit of staying positive I'll go 1-1. I do have concerns about us keeping it to 1 and exactly where our goal is coming from though!

Heart says 1-0 hornets, but head is going for the reverse.:(

I'm just hoping we can take the same amount of possession and attempts from Saturdays game and then just finish one or two of them off properly!!!

Be typical of us if we upset the odds and win...

Sounds like Dyche wants us to get stuck into the Hammers in terms of not respecting their big names too much once the game starts.

Not sure how Big Sam would take that though..probably just get him more motivated too

I think we'll perform better this season against teams where we're the underdogs. The onus is on west ham tomorrow to win the game and hopefully we can pick their pockets.

On a related note I heard that derby were interested in signing Craig ***an with the teamtalk being "well you've got to pick a pocket or two"

I've tipped West Ham to not do that well this season.

I'm usually right with my tips, but we usually struggle against teams that don't do that well.

    I'll go for a thrilling 0-0.
