So guys I need to know a couple things

    a) can you vote via poll? I am hearing some people are using the app (why?) :) and cannot see a poll. I want to experiment with a poll for vote counting.

    b) are you glued to a 24 hour clock OR would you be happy with a votes need to add up to 50% of people then allow a trial where people get to vote innocent or guilty (again)

this would be a complicated system requiring people to be paying attention as a vote could be triggered at any time.

The mechanics of day v night would have to be worked out here. I doubt everyone would be able to play an immediate night after lynch.

    Simple...

If you use the poll voting system, I'm out. If you don't, I'm in.

I use the app because it's quicker, easier and users less data. You can read the comments and that's all I want so suits me fine

Ok, well It would save me a lot of time like..... thats all.

what about the other side of it?

If i set up a 15 man game like this:

players - Votes to start trial
    15 - 8
    14 - 7
    13 - 7
    12 - 6
    11 - 6
    10 - 5
    9 - 5
    8 - 4
    7 - 4
    6 - 3
    5 - 3
    4 - 2
    3 - 2

then once votes are triggered say 8 people vote day 1 for one person. I say right... ok .. you have to have 8 votes by 6pm and then theres a trial from 6-9pm?

all votes cast to put someone to trial are gone and the trial is guilty or innocent or abstain

one vote is enough to lynch a guy if all else abstain.

Equally the person on trial can convince the town he is innocent and can be let off.

If the trial is trigger after 2 hours a second trial can be had if enough votes on offer

    Thoughts?

on using the poll how would we be able to track the movement / pattern of peoples voting s we would only see the last vote ?
could you use a code word on peoples voting posts i.e. vote so easy to search for relevant post.

ps the trial idea seems like stacks of work to me plus to quote you
this would be a complicated system requiring people to be paying attention as a vote could be triggered at any time.
which seems a tad optimistic considering the clientele <laugh>

    Dear Auntie Mito

A friend of mine has been playing a game on line for a while with a bunch of losers and now one of them is talking about trials after 8 votes and paying attention. Haven't a clue as to what that person is on about. How should I approach him to try and get him to explain things in English, which is my native tongue although clearly I'm in a minority on that point, so that I don't upset his feelings.

    Confused

Sounds good if we all had the time to commit to it but realistically, it'll take too much effort and time

So, it's all about you being lazy ;-)

I'll probably still play with the poll voting, just means I don't know who as voted for who etc #minordetail

Theory is you need 8 votes so tactical switching is pointless.

    Dear confused.

Id have thought you were used to feeling this way

If not then just bang your head on a wall 50 times and the feeling will go away.

    It won't be that complicated.

I am actually thinking of running two side by side if you want.

One for "am i arsed" types and one for "**** yeah lets get into this" types

how hard could it be to run two simultaneously?

These are rules form a prior game: (not the upcoming rules)

    Game Mechanics

The game will run on 24 hour rounds. Start time is 10am BST Monday. Night will fall at 9pm each night

Roles will be randomly assigned. Roles will be passed to participant by the forum conversation system. Be ready to get a PM, be sure to check before 9am Monday... and keep checking, everyone gets a PM. If you didn't get one PM me. Anyone who says they didn't get a PM will be considered a weak character and get a +1 vote in the lynch. (Its a boring joke boys it really is)

Mafia PM will read: you are mafia or you are mafia godfather:
Vampire PM will read: you are the vampire
Town detective PM will read: You are the detective
Town vampire PM will read: You are the vampire hunter
Town Jailer will read: you are the jailer
Vanilla PM will read: you are TOWN

ONLY those on assigned teams can communicate privately, no other private communication between participants is allowed. Mafia and vampired can strategize via QT board as much as they wish and communicate findings

Role specific actions are communicated to games master by PM up to 9pm each night, you miss the time you don’t get you action.

No PMs of any type are allowed to be published. If you get one you cannot use it as proof or you will be removed from game, If you make up a total lie that’s ok but if you are found to have published any screen shots or copy and pastes or even close paraphrasing of your role to prove how you are you will be removed. The point of the game is deception and figuring out who is who.
This means any little word you may think someone might pick up on and read you as town is a no no

Public forum is used to vote IN BOLD for who the town will lynch. Accusations, discussions and all sorts are permitted. Vote changing and re-changing is perfectly fine. You can claim anything you want at any time. Assume bad guys will be doing this as strategy. A simple majority vote is required to lynch. Someone must be lynched each day

Once a participant is lynched they get ONE free eulogy post where they can say I told you so and no more. Do not post any game related comments to influence the play. Comments will be deleted

Messing about will make you sick, there is ebola going about. If you catch ebola you lose your vote in the following round but luckily the drugs in the US can cure you after 24 hours. Be warned. Decisions of why you got it are the games master’s decision and final.

Posts that hurt the game will be deleted, this includes ghosts and non playing persons. Do not take offence as I will be trying to delete EVERYTHING irrespective of who. Do not make a big thing of one being deleted or not deleted I will be trying to delete all.

    Win conditions are:

Mafia win when they outnumber all other players and vampires are eliminated

Vampires win they outnumber all other players and mafia are eliminated.

Townspeople win when all bad guys are wiped out

    Order of actions:

    1. Lynching occurs

    2. Jailer acts

    3. Vampire acts

    4.Mafia acts

    5. Vampire hunter acts

    6. Recruitment occurs

    7. Investigations occur

    THE ROLES:

    1. Mafia: The mafia act as a team numbers to be decided based on final sign ups.

there will be THREE mafia. The mafia will have a kill each night and one recruit power. They cannot use both on the same night

Godfather: The godfather will select the targets. If he does not the mafioso can pick his own target.

The god father is immune to vampire bites, due to the extreme amount of garlic he eats on his pasta. He will also be able to hide form the detective.

The Mafioso (2 off): The mafioso is a goon. He will be the one who carries out the night kill. If the godfather dies you will assume his role (immunity)

    2. Vampire:

The vampire starts as a solo team. The vampire team can bite a player every second night. There may only be 3 vampires at a time. Once 3 are present the bite is suspended until one dies

The YOUNGEST vampire will be sent out to do the biting. This exposes them to risk

The vampire cannot convert a mafia. A mafia will die rather than be converted BUT the godfather will not die. If this occurs it is not counted as a convert so the vampires may bit the following night again.

If you visit the vampire hunter you will be killed.

The vampire hunter CAN HEAR ALL SAID from 9pm until 9am on the vampire board (will be communicated by me so no names given

when there are 2 vamps or more they vote for who to convert next but can only discuss it at night. the final result will not necessarily be what they said on the QT board. must pm final vote to me.

    3. The detective:
He is a private eye who gathers sensitive information

Each night the detective investigates he will simply be told suspicious or not suspicious

This means he cannot see vampires

    4. The vampire hunter:
He is a loner who decided to end the plague of vampires in the world and moves form town to town seeking them.

The vampire hunter can hear vampires talking at night.

Each night the vampire hunter may select a player to visit. If he visits a vampire he will kill them.

the order of night states that when he visits a person will have been bitten already. this person will be staked and killed. He will not see the vampire who bit the person so will not kill them.

This WILL count as a successful conversion so vampire cannot bite again the following night.

If a vampire visits the hunter he will kill the vampire. (immune to them)

    5. The Jailer:
you are town aligned and desire to rid the world of all scum

The jailer has the power to lock one person up at night. This locked up person is then totally immune from the other players that night.

The jailer can question his prisoner. This will be done on a qt board for that night and the jailer will be asked to make a jailer user name on qt. The conversation can be from from 9am to 12 noon. this is the ONLY time a private conversation is allowed and MUST NOT BE CONTINUED once i say end. I start and end the qt and you do not use it again.. each day a new qt will be provided.

It will be the Jailer, ME and the prisoner... no direct contact without me is allowed.

Here is the rub. If the jailer decides his prisoner is a bad guy.... he can execute them.

The jailer gets 2 executions but if he kills a good town member he will lose the remaining one.

This is an interrogation and the jailer needs to decide how to use it. If the prisoner doesn't engage at all that would be suspect as the jailer starts off as town so if you are town this is your chance to pass info.

The jailer cannot lock himself up.

    Now:

    Options:

    1. Voting system change to vote for trial then have a trial with guilty v innocent vote. Gives someone a chance to claim a role or give false info etc

    2. Death notes: roles who kill can publish a death note on the corpse. taunts, clues fake clues or could be a town guy making himself confirmed... who knows

    3. Last wills. Everyone can write out a will and have it published if they die. this could be key info they learned and is not lost. However some mafia roles can eliminate or change this

    4. Role confusion. Roles may be assigned to each person and thats hard to hide in but if you were told there are investigators, killers, healers/bodygaurds, other assorted roles.... but not how they are mixed up then add in a a couple unknowns there is enough places for a mafia to claim a role and hide in it if he is under pressure

    5. Non aligned players. Some could be killers, others evil and others just along for the ride. all having their own win conditions

    6. Jailors: hard to organise in a forum. Very tough but can be most powerful town player who can stop someone acting at night by locking them up either to protect or cage them and if he thinks you are bad he can execute you.

    7. amount of killing. nightly? limited to only 2 or 3? who knows..
