One week ago I'd not heard of Mcinnes let alone the winger that they're on about.

I was probably harsh on the prospect of McInnes at first.

The more I've seen and read the more I've warmed to the idea. This was enhanced by watching his team playing against a much stronger Celtic and working their bollocks off and pushing them all the way.

They pressed and moved the ball well and we're always trying to get it wide and into the forwards. He seems to be a man with a plan and a style of play and ethos.

There's still a few I'd prefer but if it's McInnes good luck to him and Haway the lads

I didn't want McInnes at first because all I knew was that he'd failed badly at Bristol but the more I hear the more I like the sound of him. I thought he was an old fella initially but not at all.

Yeah I don't really get the Clough thing. I get he was born in Sunderland. But the lad is a Derby County man. Just seems like desperately trying to force an affinity by hiring the wrong Clough decades too late. It would just be some kid riding on his father coat tails and taking the Job his da always wanted.

I like Affinity to be effortless. Philips. Non-league wonder, we took a chance on him and he was **** hot, fell in love with the club and developed a actual affinity with the club, went off, learned his trade and turned into a genuinely good coach, him coming back would be the effortless affinity I'm talking about. It's meant to be at some point.

Clough is a stranger to me. His record as a manager doesn't exactly excite. Did well with Burton first time out. Apart from that he's been bang average.

Happy for Philips to come. But feel nowt for Clough, don't even think he's a good manager.

This is why I think it's looks desperate and forced. We should have had his dad in before I was born. We didn't, the chance has gone. His son is nowt to the club really.

I think you are both programming yourselves for the inevitable and looking at things in a different light now. He will also get my full support.

I still think it's an horrendous appointment. The bloke has achieved nothing and he has already failed in the league we want him to come and manage us.

He was heavily criticized after the Celtic game like. Delayed on making a much needed change and when he did got it completely wrong apparently. Didn't see the game but what I was reading read like Moyes making subs.

Bearing in mind Shorts record of getting it right 1 in 6 we`ve got another 5 useless nackers to get through before he gets the right one again.

It certainly won't be Wagner after Huddersfield get promoted so we can tick that one off.

They're on crack if they think Cattermole is as likely to take over as an actual out of work manager.

A bloke I work with is mates with McInnes's assistant. (I'll see if I can find out any more from him at work tomorrow). He says that he's always said the Bristol job was a nightmare, and that they were messed about terribly by the owners. Now I'm not sure whether that makes him any more appropriate for us, as many of our own previous managers have said the same of ES, but I'm inclined to believe that the Bristol job wasn't a real reflection on them.

On the topic of assistants though, if a new manager brings in their own backroom staff, what happens to Paul Bracewell and Robbie Stockdale? I'd thought that Robbie Stockdale in particular might have a decent future.
