First off well done to Spurs for finishing 2nd for the first time their premiership history and for the first time since 1962/63 season. Spurs also have finished Above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years but the massive question on everyone's lips is can they kick on from this? I believe they cannot because 1) they are having to play 38 away games this season 2017/18. 2) After refusing to grasp their two best chances to win the league for 56 years one has to question if they have the winning mentality required to go all the way. 3) There have been rumblings in the Spurs dressing room of late and it's looking like Walker & Rose want away to better their careers. Manchester United & Manchester City both have had new ultra successful managers but haven't hit the floor running. I suspect collectively they will spend upwards of £500 million rebuilding their squads so next season. This will inflict more competition for top four places. Liverpool & Arsenal will also spend heavily to improve so I'm putting Spurs in a three way battle for 4th-6th with these two giants. No wumming please gentlemen
Unless Spurs match or beat their 2nd place then it would be a downward move. It will also depend on how Spurs cope with CL - will they get another easy to qualify from group, and will they ? So unless Spurs win a trophy next season then questions will be asked about their mettle. They might make a big play for the League Cup as the big clubs don't take it seriously, so they have a chance. I see Spurs having a good run in the FA Cup as they will use their home advantage. If Spurs make the semis what happens - has it to be played on a neutral ground ?
First one was a failure, nice of you to admit it in your own little way You've even angled people's thoughts by putting a Poll, amateur 14 years for a Club to be running is quite recent, so the OP's lack of actual support for his own club and obsession with another one is forgiven Oh dear
They actually improved on spot but spiralled in Europe twice mate the second time was very embarrassing for them so I won't mention they got humped by plumbers & postmen. I think the question has already been asked, 2008 was a long time back although they have improved a tad but they still suffer from nearitus syndrome as we saw in the semi's this year. Indeed this is probably their best chance as they are very much considered a cup club with a success rate of about one a decade. Should they manage a final and I say if it would be played at Wembley (Chelseas home ground).
As 4th-6th > "rightful place behind the top 6" , then to summarise this article ... please log in to view this image And before a Spurs player has even kicked a ball in anger in the 2017-18 season.
Next season's finishing positions (no wind up) 1 Chelsea 2 Man City 3 Manure 4 Arsenal 5 Scousers 6 Spurs
Swap 4 and 5, Wenger is still there after all. Where we finish obviously depends on how we adapt to Wembley. Admittedly the signs are not good given our performances there this year and Arsenal's when they moved stadiums but who knows....
I can see this one being accurate to be honest. Reckon they'll struggle at Wembley with it's soulless atmosphere and 30,000 day trippers. Keeping Poch and likes of Alli next Summer will then be a struggle imo. Just said to NSIS on cup final thread that this stadium move has actually come at the worst possible time to be honest. You could of done with another few years at WHL to cement your position where you are. As it is reckon these 2 years will be as good as it gets for you lot for a little while.
You can't help thinking that they've missed their golden chance. Installing a winning mentality takes time and it's something they haven't had over the last two years. As you say with Wembley now beckoning the likelihood of them arriving back at WHL with the same team is inconceivable.
