Tis a worrying development to be sure. Fair play, they've got off to a good start but this league is long and hard. Remember last season? 7 games without a point but by October we were up challenging for a play off spot. Things can change very quickly.
This the worry most teams in this divsion can beat each other , so there are lots of twists and turns to come
Nice to see the Skates are taking such an interest in our board - how flattering. And no, we won't get ahead of ourselves; the thread is about us being top on a newspaper bill-board in Skateland; not about us thinking we have won the league already.
hahaha, that's brilliant. i agree with the above, after the way portsmouth fans gloated at our near-demise, i will never feel bad about a bit of friendly banter their way again.
That's rubbish Saintforeman. Loads of Portsmouth fans wished Southampton well during the time when they were facing their demise. I should know, I was one of them. Statements like yours is an example of rubbish which is repeated by people with an agenda so often that they become assumed as fact.
It's been posted on both saints & pompey boards. It maybe my advancing age, but I'm increasingly finding it difficult to get worked up about Pompey. The hatred I had in the 80's & 90's has gone and although a bit of banter is still held in my backpocket to whip out when the Skates least expect it... I just really can't be arsed with them much now. Just enjoying having Saints playing well and being run well is more than enough of a football fix without the need for local rivalries.
Not the ones that I spoke to. I have genuinely never seen a more hate-filled fan base than you blue lot.
Everything being equal, even head to head results, there's a play-off match. Very unlikely to happen, but what a pressure match.
Yes, base the opinion of Portsmouth's entire fanbase on the opinion of the four or five fans you spoke to, that's an absolutely brilliant idea.
You are obviously mixing with the wrong crowd, I know many Pompey fans who are decent people, they are just let down by a few rotten eggs, we have some of them too. Enjoy the banter but there is simply no need for nastiness, that has a habit of coming back and biting our backsides. Pride comes before a fall they say, well let us be proud, it will be a while before we fall I'm thinking.
I know a few Pompey fans, including my brother, who are football supporters just like us. We tease each other and, obviously, I'm in the ascendancy at the moment, but there is no real nastiness, because we all know the boot could be on the other foot next time. When we were going down the tubes, they were kind (though no doubt secretly smiling), so I treat them the same now. Every club has fans you don't want to meet down a dark alley, fortunately for me I don't know any.
I dated a girl from Pompey for a while....I considered it missionary work at the time. Her father was a fanatical Pompey fan also and he hated the idea of his daughter going out with a Saint's fan, which added a certain amount of spice and danger to the relationship I think he was worried that any offspring that might arise would be born with only 5 toes on each foot.
Your preferred sexual position whilst you deflowered this poor innocent young girl, is of no interest to us Pompey fans whatsoever, thankyou very much
When did I ever tar the whole fan base with on brush?? I'm also mates with some skates... All I said was that while we are above you I will get involved in banter, and if you're ever above us I expect the same back. I still stick with my point that more Pompey fans went out of their way to rub saints noses in it than saints fans would.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it goes down to the results between the two teams that season and if equal, a play-off match held at a neutral venue.
