The problem is his contract. He may not be too keen to sign with us at this point in time. I don't think I would be, knowing that I am almost certainly behind Gabbiadini and Austin in the pecking order, and possibly Redmond. And that we will probably still be looking to bring in someone else this season. So say we bring him back into the fold. He plays in some Cup Matches. Maybe near the end of the year he actually makes the starting XI, and does okay. Then what? He becomes a nice signing for a newly promoted PL side or something. And he leaves on a free.

Thing is defensively they're sound, it's the attack they need to sort out. Either that or the general negative football.
As I said Van Dijk will only stay if no one pays crazy money. It is going to be very tough to keep him as so many big clubs are after him. I can see him ending up going for about £60m. Some Saints fans need to start to at least be ready to accept that we could start next season with no Bertrand or Van Dijk.
