Moon gods possibly did to some, it's a big part of the pagan beliefs that mohamed based his version on, hence the crescent on mosques and the kaaba, which the pagans used as a home for 360 idols. The moon god was called allah.

The Romans did the same with Christianity as a propaganda tool to get it accepted and become a useful tool to control the masses.

Can you write such drivel without cringing? I think you need to take your prayer mat in for an over haul, it's clearly not receiving inspired thought.

They may claim that some scientific theories disprove sections of some religions' dogma, but that's not disproving god.
For example, if one faith were to claim that the world was flat or that the moon was made of cheese, then it would appear to be false.

Is that what your book says, or just the voices in your head?

The religions certainly drew from pagan sources, and it was a device to make them more popular to the masses, and then used as a means of control.

It doesn't in itself disprove god, but as you say, if a religion claims something is the absolute word of god, and that claim is falsified, it effectively falsifies their religion and their version of god, unless they correct that part.

I think that website started as a joke or thought experiment, IIRC.
I really don't understand why that particular conspiracy theory seems to be gaining ground right now, honestly.
    Really odd.

Or say it's been misinterpreted or that it's supposed to be poetic or it's a metaphor for something.

It's a problem for a book that's supposed to be a revelation from god on earth, yet needs scholars with a command of archaic arabic to interpret, explain and present its meaning.

I'd expect an omnipotent, omniscient divine power to have a clearer, more universal plan than that, or perhaps got it right initially or on his other goes at revelation. Some scholars claim it was only meant for locals, and others get their own version, but it looks like the almighty hit publishing problems.

Yep, I'm pretty sure you're right. It was started as a spoof. Seems like some people take it a little more seriously!

If it was really round, aeroplanes would only need to hover, and be able to land on the right spot as it passes below at 1,000 mph.

With most conspiracy theories I can see what the reasoning is behind it.
They're normally because the theorist thinks that some group is benefiting from it in some manner.
Flat Earth? It would have to be the most widespread suppression of information ever and to what end? Mystifying.
