This is where it all falls down in pieces, Clearly God hasn't written anything bible or quran. They would have you believe they were filled with the holy spirit when they wrote what they did......but human's being humans we all know the outcome.
I don't. Happy to discuss. But it has to be a genuine discussion not 1001 questions without offering anything in the way of explanation in return. The who created God question is the obvious go to in these discussions, usually followed by the spaghetti monster etc from the books of authors I mentioned before Yet we get deeper into the discussion with individuals and said authors and we get to the same point That point is that as religious folk we get yo the point of "I don't know" and as scientists we reach exactly that point too.
Funny how there's been no prophets that seem to stand up to scrutiny in modern times like, all the good ones seemed to have packed up a few thousand years back. A cynic might suggest that a prophet in the current era would be told to put the crack pipe down. please log in to view this image
I see so we are going to ignore the whole post pick bits and just question. The bible isn't the be all and end all of religious discussion and not being able to address this kind of question doesn't affect the main issue, just like american civil war got its most comprehensive write up in the 60's doesn't take away from the fact that it didn't happen
The salient difference being, that a believer will use their faith to satisfy them that what they can't explain is still valid, and a scientist will continue to push the theory forwards and push the boundaries of our understanding.
Not even slightly true tbh. Sure these people exist, just as they do in any "community". There is evidence even here on not606. See next year will be our year But joking aside even science is struggling to let go of certain " beliefs" trying to prove what we need to maybe move from. Your religious knowledge is based mainly on Christianity, it appears. Yet know that as a Muslim the very first syllables of the shahadah tell me to do what you think religious don't but science does
Faith? being sold a load of hogwash and then using that to answer the fundamental questions of man such as who created God and what is my purpose.
The resurrection is the mainstay of 'proving' that Jesus was the son of God. He rose from the dead and ascended to heaven. Only the chapter was written way after the rest of the manuscript, it doesn't get any historical reference whatsoever until centuries later and there's much debate about whether the resurrection was 'visionary' or physical. It's sort of a key point tbf......
You have to know what Qur'an at the end of the day, to say it was written by a man is wrong but Qur'an wasn't in the written form, Qur'an literally means recitation, its in the oral form from the start not written. Surely then finding contradictions is an easy thing like you do with Bible...
Proving to who? You are doing what you accuse the religious of doing here. Taking something and pushing it to prove something I don't believe in the resurrection or that Jesus was God. I don't even hold th eking James version etc as the word of God. Yet I believe in Jesus and the bible
You need to look deeper mate, the things you are giving as examples have been debated for a long time, the people who are coming up with the arguments are not new, there have been these debates done by many clever people than myself and you on both sides mate.
Exactly and all 6236 words have been recited by one person after the next down the ages without prostitution by those who could see the power and use it to their own ends.
I've not read it, so it's not my place to comment on that, but many others would say yes it seems http://lmgtfy.com/?q=contradictions in the quran
I.never get this line of attack tbh If you take God out of the equation here then purpose, who what created us etc is all about science too. Its easy to say things like how can there be a God who allows such cruelty but no one says why not just be cruel FYI that why not be cruel.is from an atheist author
Ok, it was over a period of 23 years it was orally given out to people, I believe its from God you don't, fine but then it should be easy for you come up with contradictions to support it in the similar fashion you do with Bible for instance.
easy to do that but then have you bothered to see if they have been answered or not? its easy to try and pluck bits to stay in the comfort zone and not challenge our ideas or beliefs.
