Our team is that young. We have had the second youngest average aged line up this season behind spurs. Although I do agree with your first point. We do have a young squad, and have had for some time now because we sell them before they reach their peak years. So what is the point in having a young squad?!
Yes, you're right. I think though that he always planned to carry it through because a sudden change in tempo COULD have had a detrimental effect on fitness. It wasn't just about the actual period with the fixtures in close succession but over the season as a whole. It is why I think he'd do it differently next season, given the chance. It's also no coincidence that our best period came when we didn't have a pile up of games.
I'm not talking about bickering. I'm talking about the dismissive posts of others opinions and with an air of superiority about them... on all sides. On the abuse and personal (bit rich but ok) front... the problem is a lot of people only tend to class swearing as the above. So a poster belitting another and making snide inferences(sp?) is considered fair game, but being called a twat isn't. Doesn't seem right to me. I know I'm personally more offended by the latter than the former. Everyone is different though of course. I've been here pretty much since the beginning as well btw
Back to the point at hand. If Puel does go, many have said they'd like Marco Silva as his replacement. A lot of noise and odds being slashed that he has turned Porto down in order to stay in England with Crystal Palace.
Be interested to see how he gets on if he goes there. Palace got a decent squad that with a few additions will be top half imo. I just hope we make a decision sooner rather than later.
The impression you get is the Southampton Way is a bit 'dithery' at times. Mind you nearly all of us have no idea what is going on behind the scenes so it is always only an impression.
I'm sure the decision will be soon. If he goes, he will leave shortly, but if he stays I bet there will be no announcement (because he has a contract after all)....so no news will mean he is here next season.
What do you know, you ignorant twat? Coming on here getting all high and mighty with your inferences (sic) and boasting about how long you've been on here? Great the internet, isn't it? Insult some poor sod you'll never see and get away with it. And to add to the fun, make nasty comments about players and managers and pretend to be a fan. I love the diversity of this board. It should be like one of those proper discussions you can get going in the pub after a couple of beers, when you know you can't get personal because the big bloke with tattoos might kill you, but while you stick to your argument he'll begrudgingly respect you (I get to some classy joints, as you can see). Personally I think the mods should be armed with tasers, have everyone's home address and be allowed to visit and zap people. All this namby pamby "now stop it children" is never going to work!
Hmm, I'm not sure. I think they have to make an announcement one way or the other. Just saying nothing will fuel speculation which is a huge distraction for all. Even if it isn't a statement saying "Puel won't be sacked" we should should make it clear he will be here next season. Perhaps an interview with Les or Ralph in which they state the end of season review has been completed and they are satisfied with the performance and hope the manager can improve on the foundations laid this season - or something to that effect.
I agree....because if he stays, they need to offer support, but Saints have a history of not commenting.
This thread has a lot of posts considering i bet the majority on here wouldn't be too bothered if Puel stayed or if he left, either way for me its the least I've cared about a manager for a long time.
Daily Echo polled 8,000 fans, 68% said he should go... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/153...e_Puel_the_vote_of_no_confidence/?ref=mr&lp=3
I think that Puel is suffering from the "Chris Nicholl" effect, another very capable manager who had the misfortune to replace Lawrie Mac, a very tough act to follow, but we had some very good seasons with him and we all know what happened after he was sacked!...
