In fairness bar Rashford having an absolute pony to run against he got zero decent service there as mourimho sent Utd out to just hoof it at him.

Watching a player like mkhitaryan just hoofing long was sad.

 

Bit harsh on the striker tbh, as much a spectator as you and I.

 

Criticising them will always look like sour grapes, but I honestly couldn't stand it. I don't watch football for this.

 

I thought he got played out of the game by Smalling, if you watched in the corner of the screen when Ajax were going forward he was bullied a bit, something he probably isn't used to in the Dutch league. A definite learning curve for him but harsh to write him off, as his goal record at 19 years old obviously suggests he's quite a talented player.

 

We come up against teams out to stifle us in most games in the PL so we need players who can break them down.
I'm not judging on one game, btw - just pointing it out.

 

He didn't just hoof - Jose had obviously sent him out to hack their left-midfielder and left back until he got booked. Rotational fouling is Jose's style.

 

Totally. Ajax as a team, and all their individual players, never gave one glimpse of how they'd break down a defensive, negative, fouling team like this, and what they'd regularly encounter in the PL. Then again, apart from Ford and Mane, neither do we. On tonights showing, Sanchez is the only player of theirs who'd improve on what we had.

 

I think it's hard to judge any of that Ajax side individually on tonights game.

They came up against a much stronger, more experienced, and frankly better United side.

That was so easy for United tonight it was barely competitive.

That's what will happen in the PL, they are great technical players but wouldn't make an impact for a season as they adapt

Yes but he didn't have Mane to his right, Firmino to his left and Coutinho behind him. It wasn't just about him specifically struggling, it was about all of them struggling against an organised team as an unit. Team mates have got to create space for you and provide you with service as a striker.

 

Fair play to United. Could have been us last year with LC and EL along with CL football. They've been **** but winning two cups and getting into group stages of CL is big success. Their football is dull as anything but can't beat a cup final win!

 

Didn't see the first half but Sanchez looked one hell of a player at CB and only 20 as well. Might be a bit of a bidding war going on for him.

 

Certainly looks a player, can see someone snapping him up come Summer.

Utd fully deserved it and you know if a few people feel better after a game of football after this week so much the better.
