Standing mate, dont think I'd enjoy the gig sitting down :). Been to the Roundhouse once before to see a show called 'De La Guarda'was a great venue I thought.
I feel sorry for your girls that they won't see Ariana Grande.....hope they aren't too upset.
My girl would be devastated if her 'Little Mix' concert got cancelled.

The youngest who's birthday it was today (14) was a bit subdued and couldn't understand what was going on. I tried to explain but couldn't really get my view point across. How do you equate an 8 year old going to probably her first concert and not returning home. It's really heartbreaking stuff. Today has been a tough day trying to make sense of all this ****. It's heartbreaking to think what all of those innocents went through last night. And for what? What does it achieve?

Off to bed now mate, have a great time watching Hawkwind.

This is 21st century terrorism, it is fuelled by the internet and any disaffected nut-job has a myriad of evil propaganda at the touch of a key on their phone. The failure to persuade/force Google, Twitter and Facebook to block their content is fuelling the ease at which anyone can access this. Add that to the Human Rights Act which is basically on the side of anyone who commits acts against the person and we have hamstrung ourselves in our ability to stop such things happening.

Daesh/Isis is not an organisation which is touchable as it relies on these media services as it's vehicle to prepare and execute it's aims which exacerbates the problem. The young are the perfect target for them as they can manipulate those in society who are vulnerable and have grievances to actually belong to something they think will reward them. In the past these were just oddballs, now they become brainwashed mass-killing martyrs. It is a reflection of what we have allowed society to become and the mistakes we have made in not reining in the hate-preachers who started this madness in the past 20 years...

This is also done to free up armed police from static roles. The army will take over these roles, guarding important or sensitive places, plus sporting venues I'd guess.

I'm afraid it's a lot deeper than just the odd mental nut-job.
Islam has a huge problem and is in desperate need of reformation.

Let's face it, we cannot comprehend why these people do what they do...its the result of warped 'religion'. I reckon it's not religion though, as most religions teach loving others, respect and decency. It's people who have used and perverted religion for their own nutcase ideas. Most normal people won't be able to answer the question 'why' because we can't think that way.

Sorry....I really do not think you can gently put this aside as mental illness or nut-job. That is too simple an idea, and actually wrong. Obviously, there will be a few who are mentally ill, but for the main part I do not think they are much different to you or I. Difference is I do not think there is a cause I would die for (unlike these people) although I could see myself fighting to the death to defend my family....But that is because I have lived in a open world, and been free enough when indoctrinations (religion, social concepts and ideas) came to me I looked at them , considered them a bit and said no thank you.

However these people have been indoctrinated, many from birth, in a closed environment, where there is no choice but to listen to their religious and social leaders...and that is fine when it is benign. You must be humble, law-abiding, pray 5 times a day and eat only certain foods (which forms the basis of Islam)...that impinges on no-one but themselves. It is exactly the same as in the UK you must go to Mass on Sunday, Football on Saturday, eat fish on Friday and watch X factor or buy one of those strange fidget/ spinner twirly things from market stalls that everyone now must have.

It becomes a problem, when ordinary youngsters are drip-fed hatred and the belief that they are being oppressed by foreigners (and that becomes a reality if it is actually happening..). Strollers post of Corbyns words in 2003 are totally totally correct. We (the West) did start this cycle of destruction...which is now fed upon by impressionable people who have had no freedom to explore their world (either mental and physical). They join a "club" of like-minded people (we all like the joining "clubs" bit...this is why we are here on this website...afterall), and then the thoughts are self propagating and escalating between the "club" members...then you get the end-product of a terrorist.

How can we combat it? The first way is not to isolate the Muslim community, but embrace it. Show that we can see the difference between the terrorist and the Muslim.
Any backlash against innocent people will rebound three-fold. We need to find the hardcore and remove them, but support the community around them.

    End of my rant

(PS..what are those spinny things that everyone has...but me?)

I'm off to two gigs over the weekend, and feel the same as you Staines, I'm not letting these ****ers spoil my entertainment....I assume that there will be some additional security measures, getting into the venue, so be it.

Sone big events coming up, Champions League final in Cardiff in a few days.....that will be heavily guarded now too.

Very well put. Short of a muslim hollocaust (through ejection/extermination) in the UK (and even then that never prevented a sandy hook or an andreas breivik) and banned muslims from entering the country, this is exactly what we should do.

We need to show that we are strong together and remove the extremists and those who preach hate. It's hard though as we do not give our police enough powers and words alone are not enough. We are stuck as we want to show we have human rights and it takes us years to remove these extreme hate preachers. Even the guy who has just committed this atrocious bombing was under surveillance and managed to get away with it.

In all honesty i do not know the answer to all this.

I agree with this too, it's too easy to get material online. In a utopian world all the bad stuff would be restricted and all the good stuff will be let through. In reality we know that if we start placing restrictions we could end up like China where there is no open discussions on the government.

In answer to Beth's question - Fidget Spinners - the latest craze which will go the same way as loom bands and be landfill by Christmas.

Meant to be developed to help children with attention deficit who often need to fiddle with things to help then concentrate. The irony is most schools have banned them so nothing more than a toy fad now.

The peace loving muslims are as upset as the rest of us Col, all peace loving people are.
The whole of the civilsed world is upset as we are.... regardless of race, religion or colour.

    It is an atrocity
