Why the animosty towards Shola?

I think it's a given that he starts on Saturday. But aside from that, I can't see why everyone wants him out the team. As far as I can see, he offers as much if not more than any of our other attacking options. Sat on the front row on Saturday with my dad, we were continually remarking on how good Shola had been in the air and holding the ball up. Our problem was that there was no one running past Shola when he had the ball. I think Obertan could eradicate this problem, I really think Shola on his own with Obertan in support is the perfect front 2 for our personnel. I'd love to see us go with this coming into the derby and the rest of the season:

Simmo Saylor Colla ?????
Barton Tiote Cabaye Jonas
Obertan
Ameobi

This also leaves us players like Ba and Sameobi who can come off the bench and make a difference

 

I'd start Best up front with Obertan playing off him.

My only complaint...ok, my main complaint with Shola is that he falls down too easily. Most forwards fall over if the wind blows, but he does it when there is no one around, so the odd free kick he might earn never happens. I actually think he settles the ball well and can hold it up, but then falls over. Shoes too big?

 

He should start on Saturday, but is just an awful footballer.

He is 6'3 and yet cant win a header. He's been playing professional football for 11 years and doesnt understand the offside rule. He falls over himself/the football/nothing on a consistent basis and frequently fouls opposition defenders for no reason.

 

Even though he gets dominated by a decent pair of CB's, it's wrong to say he can't win a header, he can but most CB's at this level can beat him 9 times out of 10 in the air.

I noticed that he was very static, caught offside every time the ball went forward in the first half, held the ball up only a couple of times but mainly fell over and won very little in the air! Best did more than Shola and Ba in the little time he had on the pitch and I'm no fan of Best!

If we play Shola as our main striker this season then I'd be confident of relegation.

He's ****e and I'd already want Best and Obertan in ahead of both of those lazy clowns on Saturday. (and I don't rate Best) I was hoping Pardew was going to come out and say Ba is struggling for fitness, no such luck! With Shola I cannot take anymore, he's detrimental to our game and always has been. but he kils you when you've bought technical players to play passing football. This involves movement and control as a striker, sadly Shola has neither.

 

It was never going to work playing Ba and Ameobi upfront. Plus you can't really judge the forwards from the Arsenal game as the midfield was almost non existent when it came to attacking play.

 

His passes never ****ing to go his man either. Best is so much better on the ball. Best or Ba to start, Obertan to play just behind either of them.

 

He won 0 yesterday by my count, Arsenal's CBs arent exactly Samba and Hangeland in the air.

 

I have no animosity to him.. hence my new sig

Like the sig, like Sammy better than Shola though and think he has a lot more to offer.

 

Shola should be done under the trade description act, premiership striker no chance, I have constantly stated he is awful and should never be playing at this level, championship at best.

 

One positive about his performance against Arsenal was that his first touch was looking better than usual.
