Well, if this is true, at least we can cross Wagner off the Liszt. He'd have been on a Haydn to nothing after this season anyway!
Absolutely Rick and I said a few weeks ago, it would be somebody 'left field' and more likely than not German. Can't wait to see FML's comment and I KNOW it's a risk, but almost any manager is and it will be interesting to see how both Rowett and Warburton fare next season. IF it's true, then I'm absolutely thrilled and can't wait to see results.
Absolutely Fabulous, Love the sound of this possible appointment, just hope we manage to make it a done deal before anyone tries gazumping us.
Rumours abound that Ex Germany Striker Stefan Kuntz will be joining Farke as his assistant. 'Farke 'n' Kuntz'
It seems he will be bringing his own team, if appointed. Which makes sense as they will know the way he works, which would be totally alien to British coaches.
Many of us have been talking about the Southampton model of bringing young players through and Farke sounds like he'd be an excellent choice for that. I had hoped that AN would do that, although he did bring in both Murphys, Thompson and Godfrey, and to a lesser degree Maddison (though the loan to Aberdeen did bring on his game). In the end, there was too much at stake for him to take risks. If Farke comes, he arrives with that expectation. The better U23 league, the cup games and occasional sub appearances in a smaller squad should allow those players a chance to break through and possibly others like Efete and Adams as well. Our success back in the 1990s came from young players like Goss and Sutton coming through and a tight team ethos as well. Hopefully someone like Farke can achieve that again.
I trust you realised that I had my tounge firmly planted in my cheek when I posted GE Anyway, this is Borussia Dortmund II's squad and coaching staff: https://www.bvb.de/eng/Teams/Under-23s
I chose to ignore the "play on words" KIO, don't want to put them off before they even get to Norwich.
Paddy Davitt has a latest update in the Pinkun based on an interview with Farke in a German newspaper: “Yes, there are already one or other (possibilities). The talks are now underway. Concrete is still nothing. We’ll see. Sometimes things develop very quickly, sometimes it takes longer.” He then said later: “I have said more often that my life fortune does not depend on a job in the Bundesliga." This obviously has the ambiguity of translation, but he seems to be saying that he'd be willing to leave Germany to manage a first team. The guy sounds very genuine and committed. Still we wait and see. Full article here: http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/norwich-city-target-daniel-farke-weighs-up-his-options-1-5030336
So do I he looks like the type of guy who when he says 'jump' you say 'how fecking high?' please log in to view this image
According to the French Sports Channel he has signed. This would represent financial realism with the parachute payments ending. Despite what others might think the parachute payments are there to protect the Clubs with players on large contracts and are not there to try and buy a way back to the Premiership. We now have to get rid of many of the players on high wages and replace them with cheapies from the lower leagues or abroad and bring through some of the younger players. As far as that goes Maddison should be a permanent name on the team sheet. I just hope that people will be patient and not think that we have much chance of promotion next season but with a forecast £12m loss last year the financial reality is that we have to live within our means this year and plan to do the same the following season when the parachute payments have ended. Next season we will be in a league where at least half of the Clubs are as big or even bigger than us and many of those will have large parachute payments and/or wealthy backers meaning that promotion will be more difficult than ever. .
Am I the only one who is thinking here we go again? This guy is less experienced even than Neil! Apart from the assumption that him being German makes him a better candidate, why would we be getting excited by a manager/head coach that has not managed above u23 level? Granted u23/second team level in Germany could well be better than the SPL but before that he was managing a 5th tier side! This is a monumentally large risk given his lack of experience at even a moderately high level. I hope Webber knows what he's doing! I can see this all ending in tears. Bah!
I guess the hope comes from Webber, and arguably Wagner, as much as it does Farke. Wagner was plucked by Webber from Dortmund 2nd's to take over at Huddersfield, and that looked to be a potent combination last season. Farke has had the same apprenticeship, and appears highly rated. Let's hope lightening can strike twice in that regard. With Webber hopefully making us more effective in the transfer market than we've been since McNally left, hopefully Farke can stick to his strengths more, as Neil could when McNally was here. It's certainly a leap into the unknown with this new set-up, but it certainly seems progressive, and I definitely prefer to the alternative of appointing someone off the second-rate manager merry-go-round.
