  1. Hull 1 v 7 Spurs

What a great finish to the season! Here's what a West Ham legend had to say about it:

"For Spurs to finish with 86 points, more goals than any other team in the league, conceding less goals than any other team in the league and playing the Tottenham way - It's just fantastic!"
    (Sir Trevor Brooking)

Kiss the badge, you little magician! You deserve it, son!

    Ok...pedants 'r us...thank you...

We had a bloody good shot of it. In many seasons 86 pts is enough to win it.

Most goals, best goal difference, fewest conceded etc....just had to catch Chelsea on a record season...j

  9. I have a feeling that our lads are going to get used to it, HB.

You're quite a way below us, now. I'm not sure how quickly you are going to be able to make up the ground, especially after the decimation that is likely to be done to your squad in the Summer window. I get the very strong impression that we are going to be concentrating more on going for the title, again, up against the likes of Chelsea and City. I'm not sure that Arsenal is going to feature much in our agenda, at all, for a while, mate.

    Indeed.
Arsenal have their own turmoil to deal with.
Depending on Wenger stays or whatnot.
Spurs, its just the whole Wembley thing. I don't see them competing for the title away from WHL.
If not for that I would put them amongst the favourites next year, depending on signings of course.

Next season is going to be exciting.
Man united will reinforce but depending on whether they win the EL or not, may have a bearing on the class of player they can attract, but even then, they managed to get Di Maria and Zlatan and the like without CL football.

I just pray we dont make the same mistake as 2015 and let the squad go stale. I expect at least 2 marquee signings and at least one big departure (probably Costa).

  11. Yep.

    Agreed.

For me, this is going to go one way or the other. Either, we are going to continue with our forlorn performances on the Wembley turf, or Poch is going to get his tactics spot on over the Summer break.

My hope is that we can turn it to our advantage, using our undoubted passing and ball-control to run teams ragged on the acres of space and then use our fitness to close teams out of games when away from home.

Agreed. I'm really looking forward to it, mate.
    <ok>

I think that United will be able to finish above Arsenal, next season.

Provided that you don't lose any of your key players to the usual European predators, you should put up a decent title defence.

So from one season now all of sudden you have become the best of the lot <laugh>

Even if we were to be below you for next 20 years, you need to be winning a lot of PL titles and FA cups before you can consider being out of our shadow...:emoticon-0126-nerd:

  13. Sweet Lord, no! I would never be so arrogant as to pronounce that Spurs is the best team in the country! All I am saying is that we're the second best - at the moment.

    <laugh>
You Gooners are obsessed with this idea that Spurs have to finish above you for the next 20 seasons before we can be considered to be better than Arsenal! We're already better than you, HB!

What part of "Spurs finished 2nd and Arsenal finished 5th" do you not understand?

    ^^^^rant <laugh>

Enjoy the second place trophy....you have to win the titles to be considered one of the top teams and not in the shadow of Arsenal, one season above Arsenal doesn't make you better all of a sudden. We had a terrible season and you had a great one by your standards, well done and enjoy the bit of sunshine from the shadow.<applause><applause>

Just read this from an article about old 'one season wonder'...

For Kane needs to keep having targets set for him to reach and records to break. He has scored as many hat-tricks in his career as Wayne Rooney and he's only 23.

His 29 goals are two more than the whole Middlesbrough team mustered this season and his 20 goals in the league in 2017 are just four fewer than the entire Manchester United side.

A great achievement but now needs to find a team that are capable of converting his goals into trophies.

Finishing well ahead of you actually does mean that we're better, all of a sudden. Sorry.
As for you having had a terrible season, you actually got more points than you did in the last campaign.
It's a fairly average points total for your last five or six years, at least.
