Guys once again we discussing the ethics of being a football fan............
Firstly I want to clearly get something off my chest.............
There is never a time when you should boo your team if you are a true fan. There is no excuse for it.........
I do not understand peoples thinking if they do things like that and consider themselves a true football fan.
In this day and age we are lucky in that there is always a media outlet, like we are using, to vent our frustration.
Freedom of speech is a priceless commodity and should not be abused....No matter how frustrated you get

I have to say I have heard very little hostility in regards to his nationality. Yes I have heard remarks like....go back to Froggy land or think in English or we don't like your French tactics. Unless it is me I have not taken that to be a personal reference to his nationality.....just a reference to his style of football.

You only need to look at the comments on the Facebook page to see people using 'French' as a derogatory term.

There is no need to reference his nationality as it is something of which he has no control and it has little bearing on his job.
It's just a way of underlying a difference between him and us in a negative sense.

It's a divisive form of language which offers no value.
I'm sure in the majority of cases the speaker/writer means nothing much by it. "I called him French, he is French, get over it"

But I hope those same people can see that it's not exactly helpful either.

There is a world of difference between wanting a manager to go, and booing both him and the team.

Similarly, we are all entitled to sit in the stands believing we know more about football than a man who has coached Lyon to a CL semi final, but chanting "you don't know what you're doing" at a substitution is unforgiveable in my book.

I want Puel to be given another season. It looks like he won't be. Fine, it's a ruthless business, and Claude won't starve. But the poisonous atmosphere in St Marys - not the frustrating football, not the lack of goals, just the spoilt ****ers in the stands - has made me regret renewing my ST.

Obviously booing and chanting the things that were sung yesterday is not how fans should be acting, but a lot on here seem to think the reason he looks to be off is because of the fans. But do you really think the club would listen to a minority of the fan base on something as serious as this? They certainly don't listen to fans' views on other things, so you can't really overlook what may have happened behind the scenes. If he's lost some influential players or part of the dressing room (which has been suggested), then that is more important than a section of booing fans. Yes some supporters have acted disrespectfully, but without all the facts you can't blame his potential sacking solely on the fans.

What i find funny is that the majority of morons on Saintsweb and Twitter/Facebook wanting the "French failure" out are exactly the same people who said they'd be happy with midtable and a decent cup run......
8th and a final not good enough for you twats?
Whilst I fully acknowledge that some of the games this season have been really poor, the story of the season would have been so much different if the guys paid thousands a week to put the ball in the next actually could. Had we been able to hit able to hit a cows backside with a banjo then we might have:
    - Beaten Inter at the San Siro,
    - won the EFL cup (although the powers that be would have still made sure united won).
    - probably won yesterday, as well as countless other matches this season.

One last point that irks me is that the "fans" who got their little knickers in a twist about parking the bus at Liverpool are the same people that were saying "what a stunning defensive display" when we got to the final. Make your mind up lads. Actually, go and support them lot down the road, then you'll really see what crap football is like.

It's strange how our players finishing is even worse at home. Why would our strikers be lacking confidence in front of our own supportive fans

No I was not. I will never boo the team but I reserve the right to say it as I see it.

    Counterpoint:
Home team supporters always applaud and encourage away team strikers - I don't think so, the ones you see on the telly pitchside often look like they want to kill the opposition as their faces turn puce and stringy spittle projects out of their angry face-holes.

Shane Long has been fairly useless home and away at scoring gilt-edged chances.

    Just playing Devil's advocate.

Anyway, back to the question at hand. It looks as though he is off, but I wonder how long the club will leave it before announcing it? On the contrary, if he is staying then I believe we should release a statement confirming just that to end all the speculation.
